Curious how folks are handling returns that are not what you sent the buyer. Sold a pair of speakers, ad listed they were used and they were refurbished. Apparently there was a scratch on one of them - I didn’t notice. Told buyer to return them - truth be told I gave them away. I could have gotten more so I said I’d accept a return no problem. I didn’t get back the same speakers I sold….

Report the buyer and Appeal the claim, odds are you won't win the appeal BUT you might, you might want to file a Police Report, police won't do anything but the fact you reported can help your chances with the appeal (it's a felony to file a false police report).

Thank you!!! Seems like it’s a great idea to bait and switch .. will file a police report

You can appeal but I think all you will get is a $6 shipping voucher. If that.

It makes sense then for buyers to do this all the time then right…?

You can also file mail fraud and use that report also to appeal the case.

There have been reports of successful appeals but it's true that if you don't win the appeal eBay may just toss you a coupon.

Only if you make the assumption that any and all eBay users are thieves intent on ripping off sellers. You have sold hundreds of items, how many thieves have you encountered?

Thank you, I did that. Appreciate all the feedback. I haven’t sold much on eBay in the last 5 years so was caught off guard when the first transaction was fraudulent.
