Dear all,
I hope somebody can advise me on this matter.
A week ago I ordered a phone from China, from seller, after receiving the item and testing it, I decided to return it, because the screen was off, to black and it seemed not natural.
I filed for a return for a reason: that I changed my mind,...I didn't want to complain about the item, just return it.
After talking with ebay they told me I needed to cover the shipping back fee which was 65 euros from Cyprus to China. Upset but I said to myself fine I will pay for this.
Here comes the fun part, the seller refused to provide me with a return address in English letters (!!!!), only in Chinese, and blocked me so I couldnt communicate with him. I again involved Ebay and again no help, their agents told me that I needed to provide written confirmation from DHL or UPS that they needed a return address in English! We managed to find a solution and translate the address plus put his address in Chinese on the package.
After I paid 65eur and submitted tracking number to ebay, the seller contacted me with this message:
What to do in this case? It's clear that I have the right to return according to EU laws plus I paid for the shipping back and the seller has 30 day return option.
Thanks for any advice.

You take all your evidence and file a dispute with your credit card issuer if that is how you paid. If you have a solid financial institution, they will obtain your refund for you.
Make sure to exhaust current options first. Wait and see what happens to the return delivery and make sure to screenshot the carrier tracking etc.

If the seller refuses the package and it's returned to you, you should get a refund when tracking shows it was delivered.
If you had checked their feedback, might have saved you some trouble.

Maybe others here can answer this : "I will refuse to pick up"....doesn't a refuse mean a buyer will get the refund from eBay and buyer will probably get the item returned as well and can keep it ? Just curious.

Wow, see that now. Really good point.

Hi @klezup-68l
It’s MUCH too risky … and expensive … to ship an item to China.
You messed up by buying a highly-counterfeited item from China. You also messed up by choosing a ‘buyer’s remorse’ reason for wanting to return the item.
I strongly agree that you should go through your credit card company for a chargeback. DO NOT waste additional money sending the item back to China … with scant hope for a refund.
EDITED TO ADD:
Sorry that I missed the fact you already shipped the item. CONTACT YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY IMMEDIATELY!

thanks, I sure will, but I am wondering is there really nothing eBay can do? They were really not helpful when it came down to obtaining an address from the seller, saying they couldn't ask him due to GDPR...
I am sure there is a way ebay can sanction this seller or force a refund on him

Is there really nothing Ebay can do? this is outrageous

If the return case is still playing out, what would you expect eBay to do? Force a refund while the return is still in the mail?
You will have to allow the return case to play out and see what happens with the shipment/delivery of the return. You have the return tracking number entered into the return case correct? so that the automated part of the return case can follow the carrier tracking to see if it gets delivered?
I don't know what else to tell you. The return process is automated. These international returns can be cumbersome from what I read here on the boards.
When we get into complications here in the states, we contact eBay thru social media,
Facebook eBay for Business, use the instant messaging.
Just keep documenting along the way in order to make a case with your bank if you need to.
Whatever happens, DO NOT close your return case before getting your refund REGARDLESS of what the seller might tell you.
