Seller Refunds

So, I have just learned a lesson about the workings of Ebay. I have been an eBay member for over 20 years; a month ago, I started selling some of my dental equipment because I was retiring. I followed the guidelines for selling on the site. I took photos, descriptions, and quality of the item(I tested everything). All my items were clearly marked as no returns (unless they were damaged during shipping), Two buyers decided they had changed their minds and started a return. I explained to eBay, with photos, emails, and a copy of eBay's own policy, that it was at my discretion to accept returns. However, it has become abundantly clear that eBay does not adhere to its own policies; they have deducted the money from my account.

Seller Refunds

Did the customers state outright that they'd changed their minds? What was their selected reason for return?

A bit confused... you weren't able to deny remorse Returns? Or did your buyers open NAD (Not as Described) Returns?

@drbobe57

What were the reasons chosen by the buyers for the returns? If they chose some type of Item was Not as Described return reason, the seller will always be paying for the return shipping IF they want the item back before refunding. A seller's return poilicy is overridden by the eBay MBG policy for buyers.

If you allow eBay to refund the buyer's money, you also get a nasty seller defect on your account. If you process the refund yourself, you get no defect and eBay refunds the Final Value Fees for the transaction.

If a buyer selects a remorse type reason for the return, then you can deny the return.

If you will go back and review eBay's Money Back Guarantee very carefully, you will find that, if a buyer opens an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE, or NAD, the seller is required per eBay rules to send the buyer a prepaid return label, and to refund in full upon receipt of the returned item.  You have not been clear on whether NAD cases were opened by those buyers.

Give this a little thought:  Let's say you are a buyer.  You buy and receive an item that's not as described.  So you open an NAD case.  BUT, the seller cries, "My listing said "No Returns" so I don't have to refund you".  What's your reaction to that, especially if it was a high dollar item (like dental equipment)?
