Seller Protection?

I've been selling computer parts for a couple of years now. A few weeks ago, a gentleman orders a GPU from me. It was over $750, so I had to get signature confirmation which I did as well as ship to the confirmed address. I purchase my labels from eBay, and I ship out his item. I check on it, and it was delivered about 3 days later. The money was released into my account and then 7 days after I had a dispute with the buyer claiming the item was missing/stolen/swapped. Wasn't sure why it took him so long to report it but upon checking his address is a Doral, FL address which turns out to be an overseas parcel shipping service with some very bad reviews. From my understanding, once the company signed for it (I have proof) final agent etc. there's no way I should be responsible for what happens from the time I did my part to get it to the FL destination with signature confirmation. But the whole week after they had his items, and were "reshipping" I I should not be responsible! eBay gave me a $20 refund on the "dispute fee" which is such a smack in the face! A $2000 item. I have sig confirmation. The destination buyer had an expensive package delivered to IS A FORWARDING company, not a residental address. Buyers financial institution gave him a refund and Ebay had the nerve to say I'm not covered under seller protection? Since when? Been here 19 years! I now do not have the item or the funds. (over 2k)! How in the world am I not covered in this exact instance? How can I be punished for what happens at a shady forwarding company?! I can't get someone on the phone who understands what I'm saying yet it's so simple. Please help me find someone to talk to. Thanks

Since 2013. That's when eBay offered its own eBP eBay Buyer Protection (loosely translates to protection from buyers) in parallel will the Purchase Protection Program already on PayPal. Beginning then, buyers now had 3 bites at the apple, to get a refund from eBay, then PayPal, then a chargeback.

How in your world am you not cowered in this exact instant @ampzx is the item was reshipped

-- which caused the buyer to loose cowerage.

So the buyer insulted with its financial installation instead

-- which caused you to loose any seller cowerage.

The financial insulation reversed the charge paid to eBay

-- and eBay choosen not to absorb that loose for you.

Starting next week, think twice about shipping anything to the D places

-- Delaware, Doral, Dallas (starts with D), etc.

Are lyrics like *Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth* worthy of 41 number one hits?

Re: Seller Protection?

If you want scam protection, knowing ALL the angles of the game matters.

Before selling something, ask yourself if you could take the hit like a pro retailer would because retailers of all sizes are treated the same by these payment processors. “Equal rice, Lucy, Equal rice!” as Ricky Ricardo would say. lol They just figure you dust yourself off n’ keep on selling havin’ more successful transactions than not. This is business, it’s psychopathic. To boot, you can write off losses (refunds) on your taxes!

Sorry this happened to you but accept this as a paid learning experience and an reminder to familiarize yourself with the rules. 19 years…you ought to be very knowledgeable by now, practically Google mapping/zip code & address look-up at USPS every shipping address. Some will argue, ehh, shipping to freight forwarders are fine…ha, famous last words.

Re: Seller Protection?

Yeah you can avoid freight forwarders but I'd avoid selling that type of item or anything in it's price range, here.  Honestly, you are rarely "covered".

Re: Seller Protection?

@ampzx

If the buyer claims INAD to their Credit Card (bank), it has nothing to do with the freight forwarder or eBay at that point.

If the buyer paid you directly and you processed their Credit Card payment yourself,  they could do the same thing. File a INAD chargeback against you and win.

About the only thing you can win in a credit card chargeback is if the buyer claims Item Not Received and you have the tracking that shows delivery and of course, signature delivery helps your case in that instance.

And you know those GPU'S are one of the top scam items sold via any online venue. High risk deal.
