Ebay does not protect sellers from scammers. I put a no returns on the item I was selling to a guy in Alaska. The buyer said it was not as described, lies. Ebay refunded his money, I appealed and lost. Long story short I am out the item I sold because the buyer refuses to return it, plus Ebay did not refund my seller fees. I am done with Ebay and have requested to close my account. I sell more on Facebook anyways with no fess or **bleep**.

No returns only apply to "remorse" returns.
Accept return (even when buyer lies)
1 buyer gets a return label.
2 buyer sends item back. (some item, any item)
3 you get the item back (some item, any item)
4 you refund in full.
5 eBay refunds the FVF that was charged. (except maybe the 40 cents)
Don't accept the return.
1 eBay refunds with your money.
2 item generally does not get returned.
3 You get an account defect for "unresolved by seller"

If you had accepted the return and provided a shipping label, you could have got your item back before refunding and you would have got your fee's refunded.

This buyer was a total scammer. The product was as described to the T. Very displeased with the way Ebay choses to protect the buyer and could care less about sellers. I will be closing my account after being a 100% feedback seller for years. They did not refund any of my seller fees either. Again total lack of care for the sellers.

I'm sorry this happened to you. If you've had many years of good buyers and sales, it doesn't make good sense for you to leave ebay over 1 bad one though.
