I very rarely come to the community boards BUT
What the hell is wrong with Ebay? I have been on ebay since 1998 and it just keeps getting harder and harder for the sellers
I sold an item for $99 and shipped it immediately the buyer received it in a timely manner and said it was not as described after they had it for 2 weeks
I said fine return it for a full refund (this is after they used the item)
They opened a case against me first saying it was not as described then they say it was damaged in shipping?? Well which is it?
Ebay puts the money on "hold" as usual and when I receive the package back the buyer only sent half of it back
I told the buyer to send the rest back and I will send the refund or I can just send 1/2 a refund and be done with it
The buyer said no half refund they really didn't want the item anyway (so why did they keep half of it? hmmmm)
I told them to send the rest back to get refund
4 phone calls with ebay to make sure they were in the loop and they even extended the hold until I receive the rest of the items back
Well ebay seen the first package was returned and refunded the buyer the full amount and closed the case
Now I am out of the money and no product and today they send me an email saying the protected me under the seller protection plan? Really? Where's my money? Where's my product?
In case anybody from ebay reads this
HEY HOWARD YOU SCREWED UP AND SCREWED ME

I am telling you I am about to start selling on FB Marketplace it is easier and less fees and say good bye to Ebay
This is where I will end my rant thank you sellers for listening to me

"This is where I will end my rant thank you sellers for listening to me"
I'd say, "Our pleasure"... but it always unsettles me to read these posts.
As a seller offering Free Returns, you have the ability to reduce the amount of the refund by up to 50%, since the item was returned to you in its 'de-valued' condition. All you have to do is to be proactive. Upon return... slide the toggle, enter the amount to refund and submit.
I know that it doesn't make you whole, but it lessens the sting a bit. And it's one of the last seller protections left.
Moving forward, use this option. Good luck.

I did not know that I did offer a a 50% refund and the buyer refused and agreed to return the rest so giving the buyer the benefit of doubt I waited but unfortunately because a case was opened and ebay got involved ebay sent the refund before the deal between me and the buyer was finished which is why I kept calling ebay telling them to extend the hold etc. but they did not listen
But thanks for the information I don't get many returns I will try to remember it

I quit selling on eBay over 10 years ago due to eBay policies. The situation is many times worse now compared to then and no way in today's climate would I consider selling anything on eBay. Since the bulk of what I sold was hard to find and somewhat valuable antique motorcycle parts there is no way on God's Green Earth I would ever take a chance on losing even a comparatively inexpensive part to some yokel who is gaming the system.
EBay saying they are protecting you while allowing a scammer to keep both money and product is both asinine and disgusting.
Welcome to the Customer Service desk at Wal Ma.... uh, eBay.
