Hello, I purchased a used laptop on eBay the other day and looked at the seller's pictures and their description. I make sure to inspect the pictures for any cosmetic damage before buying any used laptops. The laptop in question looked good with no scratches or chips and the item's description mentioned it was in "Like New" working order. It arrived in the mail today, but the laptop looked scuffed and different cosmetically from the actual pictures in the listing. Is it possible to return this item without much trouble? I would assume all the pictures would be of the actual item I am being sold rather than pictures of another laptop of the same model that's in better condition cosmetically.

Read and understand the money back, it is on every listing page. Why would you in this case contact a seller directly that did not ship you the item shown in the listing?
I will however say, go back and read the WHOLE ad/listing before you do anything, don't skip over ANYTHING to make sure that it isn't stated in the listing you will be receiving one like the one shown. Was this a multiple item listing, where you could be several of the same item? No you do not contact the seller directly for refund, you need to follow how eBay has it set up.

Open a not as decribed case, it does not matter what the seller's return policy is. Go to your My eBay purchase page, on right side of item, open return item, you have to expand the list of reasons to see not as described and follow the prompts from there.

Will there be any difference if I manually contact the seller about the refund first or am I just better off doing what you said? Thanks for the help!

No, you were likely scammed @brloz-11 and the seller is hoping you will let the substitution slide. It's better to run the conversation throughout a formal return request. Click "Return this item" then SHOW MORE to select the "Wrong item sent" reason.
After 3 business days, if you still don't have a refund or a prepaid return label, come back and click Ask eBay to step in.

Yes, it was a multiple item listing with 2 quantities. I also found another issue where the webcam shutter is not present on the item I purchased while the pictures listed does have the shutter. The description just gives me the item specifications and info on how the unit is working, battery condition, power supply included, etc. I guess I'll set up a return through eBay.
