I have a question on a buyer who didn't receive an item because the post office said they had moved and is returning the item to me. The buyer said they still want the item and would like it shipped to them when I receive. Do I have to pay for the second shipping? If I cancel the order and refund the money does the error count against me as a Seller? any help is appreciated

Hi, tell the buyer you are happy to ship it to their changed address , but that since the error was theirs, they must pay for the re-shipping. You can send them an eBay invoice for the postage costs, or cancel the transaction with the reason “problem with address” and relist. They can repurchase using the new address.

A) If you cancel the order, the buyer will get a full refund, you should get the item back and will be out the original shipping. If the reason you select for canceling the order is "problem with buyers address" you will not get a strike from ebay.
B) If you don't cancel the order and the buyer still wants the item and is willing to pay for another shipping, get them to pay you via paypal.
Once they have paid the additional shipping, they can buy the item from you again. Make sure they correct their address with ebay BEFORE they buy from you again.

I'd handle it like this: when you get the item back, refund the buyer whatever they paid. I would not cancel the transaction at that point. I'd just start over after communicating your plan to the buyer. Relist the item and ask the buyer to purchase it again with the correct address. I realize you may be out some shipping cost that way. A work around to that is to add that shipping cost to the item price when you relist and recover most of it back that way - tell the buyer if you are going to do that. Anyway, that's what I'd do, for whatever it's worth.

What everyone has said are options. What i would emphasize is that it was their mistake, so you are not at fault nor should you lose any money. What I typically do is make a new listing for the shipping cost only. I explain to them what I am going to do. Have them tell me when they are ready and then I list it and they pay, I ship. I have cancelled the order for problem with shipping address. the paypal option isn't that easy as eBay is not very up for us giving out our email address which has to be done to do paypal..
