Hey everyone,
I sold a printer and the buyer would like to return it because it makes too much noise when printing. In the listing I require that the buyer pays for return shipping. I received a message from the buyer today asking me to send them a shipping label.
So my question is, should I tell them that they are responsible for return shipping? I get that making them pay for return shipping could be aggravating to them, but the item is a bit costly to ship. I was thinking about explaining the situation and offering to pay half.
If the buyer files a claim, would I most likely be responsible for shipping due to the item "not matching description"? I'm just not sure, most people aren't advertising the noise level of printers, and it did not occur to me that this could be a problem for some buyers. Any thoughts?

If they open a case of item not as described and you want the item back you pay for the return shipping.
Best just to do so now.

Wanting to return it because he doesn't like printing sounds is buyer's remorse. Tell him to please return it and let him know buyers are responsible for return shipping when there's nothing wrong with it except they changed their mind and they no longer want it. Not liking how it smells or sounds when operating is not covered by eBay.
Be sure to tell him this and keep the message because you might need it to appeal if you are forced to pay for a label.
This is if has not opened a not as described/doesn't match case.
If he requested a return case saying changed mind you are golden.
If he requested a return case saying not as described you have to refund in full and furnish return label if you want it back.
