I have been on eBay for 10 years and with the exception of one policy I am happy with the way I have been treated and protected.
One policy issue is " Seller Metrics" and buyers making false claims of item not as described just to avoid paying return postage and when very politely asked to advise what part of our listing is not as described there is either deadly silence or buyer states that I always buy this size and what I purchased does not fit.
Our response is did you view the measurements shown on our listing and we get either well it does not fit me or silence.
We contact CS who protect our seller level but they do not have access to seller metrics.
To make matters worse if in a 3 month period your INAD average goes above 1% of your total sales then eBay penalise you by charging an additional fee of 4% + tax.
eBay's specialist team are contacted and they view our listing, buyer's messages , related feedbacks and 100% of the time say they can no errors or valid reason for buyer stating reason Item does not match description or photo's but they are helpless as they are not given the tools to remove these defects.
Buyer gets to return an item for free at sellers expense and then eBay hit the seller with additional fee of 4% + taxes for next one months sales minimum.
There is absolutely nothing whatsoever that a seller can do to mitigate this abuse of eBay policy by dishonest buyers.
eBay knows this abuse is taking place but are not taking any steps to right this wrong. Solution in my view could not be simpler force the buyers to provide evidence to back up their claim otherwise no return label to be provided by seller and buyer has to pay postage charge to return the item and system updated that this defect must not count on seller metrics.
