I purchased lot of two A/C capacitors and learned they are not right from HVAC technician. The seller advertised free returns and I made contact. I was told it would be appreciated if I didn't return item(s) because this would take away from profit.
Any thoughts or comments?

Well, if the seller offers free returns, then yes you can return them. They should not offer such things if they don't want them being used.

Do not talk with Seller. Find item in your 'PURCHASES'- and click the blue button on the right that says 'RETURN';
If items show 'FREE' returns, a label will be given for you to print and use. Watch the tracking (write it down); seller is to refund you within 2 days- if they don't by day 3, click the return and then click 'escalate to ebay' (paraphrasing)

Free returns means you can return an item for any reason and the return label is provided free to the buyer.

Open an item NOT described case immediately. STOP chatting with the seller. Follow the prompts carefully. The seller will have 3 days to issue a return shipping label. Print it, take package to post office. Make sure that you write the tracking # in the claim. (Take a photo of the shipping label.) Wait until the item arrives back to the seller. You should get a refund in a day or so after the item arrives. Come back here if you don't.
DO NOT CLOSE THE CASE NO MATTER WHAT THE SELLER TELLS YOU. If the seller is in another country, he/she can't issue a shipping label. They would need to send you enough money for you to purchase the shipping label and return it to them. You should get a full refund once the item arrives back to the seller.
