Opening a damaged box?

I made a purchase from a seller and the package arrived today via UPS. The UPS driver asked me when he got out of the truck if I wanted to keep it or ship it back because the box was really beat up. He was not kidding.  I don’t know if I should open it and check for missing or damaged items or have the shipper pay for shipping it back. I’ve tried messaging the shipper but as of yet have not received a response.

Opening a damaged box?

Hi @newcreaturecomputers

eBay policy is that we forfeit our refund if we refuse delivery.

Take photos of the unopened box … and then of the contents.  Then decide whether the item is ‘not as described’.  File a ‘return request’ from your Purchase History if it is.

Do not refuse delivery.

eBay Money Back Guarantee specifically says If a package arrives empty or was damaged in transit, the buyer should accept the delivery and report that the item doesn't  match the listing.
