Opened an item not received case, received an item of the wrong model, How do I request a refund?

I bought a watch off ebay and the seller didn't ship/respond until after the est. arrival date, so there was an item not received case. I just got the package but it was for the wrong watch model. I already contacted the seller and they're willing to give me a refund, but I don't know if I can close the item not received case and then request a refund since the close case option also says I can't open any new cases for the item.  I've tried asking eBay to step in but the button links me to an error. How do I approach this?

Once you receive the item, case of item not received will close automatically. But Seller needs to load the new tracking update in order for that to happen or time passes for software to figure it out

 

You can't open another case because the other case is open. You need to talk to eBay to speed up the process for you. Here is how you could contact them

 

Open an eBay page 

Top left corner, click on 'help & contact'

Click on 'buying'

Bottom of the page, left side, Click on 'returns and refunds'

Click on top of the page 'return an item for a refund '

Go to bottom right of the page, in very small print click on ' have us call you'

eBay will call you in 2-9 minutes

After you or eBay close an Item Not Received case because tracking shows Delivered @brandmuffinart you are still allowed to click "Return this item" to open a second case.

When you do, select "Wrong item sent" to start the return request.

Your seller should issue a prepaid return label, but if not after 3 business days come back to click Ask eBay to step in. Then eBay will either refund no return needed, or issue a return label to return the wrong item for a refund.
