I've been dealing with a problematic customer. Lots of orders lots of returns despite me listing the size chart for dress she claims nothing fits. That's ok. I don't mind returns. In an effort to placate a somewhat frustrated buyer on this last return I refunded when I saw the item had shipped and was moving. Ok. I've learned that lesson. I can't trust the customer or the postal system. Yesterday only the EBay return label arrived not attached to any package with an apology note from the postal service. Since it was sent via EBay with no insurance first class mail the post office says I have no claim. While I did report the issue to EBay on the closed return I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do to try to recoup my loss. The customer is not responding. The post office says unlikely they will find anything or know what to do if found since no label on the missing package. I realize there is a possibility an unscrupulous person could just mail a label and keep the dress. I have no idea what actually happened. Where do I go from here. Lesson learned.

Thanks for your quick reply. Can you please elaborate on the thought that I've created my own problem. That seems a bit harsh. Are you saying if a customer creates problems for me my solution should be to block them? Am I trying too hard to please customers in order to keep them. Maybe they are not worth keeping. I hadn't considered that. Hmmmm.....

Same user??
If so you have created your own problem: blocked bidder list is a useful tool.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results...

@star-38 I'm sorry for your issue, receiving only the return label is a new one to be honest. Don't pay too much attention to the posters blaming you, that happens on public forums. We don't know your entire situation, we can only base our responses on what you write. The way you described this it sounds as if one particular buyer is creating multiple returns for you, which is why others are saying you've created the situation. I don't agree with them.
It sounds like you were a responsible seller and have tried to do the correct thing, good for you. Regarding that return label only, I'm afraid you are out of luck. Returns are all automated on this platform due to the sheer amount of daily transactions and returns. Once you received the label, it will show in the system as delivered to you, so you will be expected to refund. It then becomes your word against the buyers as they will say they did ship your item back to you. The buyer has no further obligation to you, they supposedly shipped back the item. Somehow the label became unattached to the package, the entire package could have been lost in the mail. These things do happen.
Try to concentrate on more selling and put this behind you. You did your part correctly. Online selling is difficult enough and selling clothing online is fraught with returns. You will survive this so put it behind you and only look forward. Best of luck to you....

This happened to me late last year. USPS sent back half a label, nothing else. There was a form for them to start a search. I filled out the paperwork, and months later it is still unresolved.
But at the time, I read the writing on the wall and refunded the customer right away. Lost is lost.*edit* I sent this pic to the buyer to let them know this a USPS issue. The item itself is probably shredded in transit.

Hmm I also forgot to say: report the buyer for return abuse.
These type if it was intentional will keep doing such.
