Increased Returns

Am I the only one who has seen a drastic increase in returns?  It is very frustrating!  Our societal norms are changing where it is now considered acceptable to lie and return an item at the seller's cost.  Yes, I now offer free returns because the buyer just lies about the reason for the return anyway.  If I do not approve than I receive negative feedback.  Ebay admit this is a problem now, but does nothing to stop these serial refunders.  My return request today was because I used a small jewelry box to ship a small piece jewelry and the necklace will not lie flat anymore.  The necklace was wrapped and boxed so there would no tanging or problems.  As a previous brick and mortar store owner, I would have never allowed that kind of behavior.  I am a hair's width away from closing my virtual store permanently.

Re: Increased Returns

2 quick questions to all.

So my situation was that eBay told the buyer to ship back. I was never provided a tracking number to follow shipment. As stated earlier, I never received the package, but eBay claims item was delivered and the buyer was refunded automatically.

For those sellers who offer free returns, do you get a tracking number of the return package? Are you able to open and inspect before refunding?

thank you for your time

Re: Increased Returns

Yes, you are supposed to be able to open the package before refunding.  I do not thin Ebay requires a tracking number.  The lack of tracking number should protect you, but we know it did not as they never provided one.  Free returns means the return postage is always paid by you the seller.  Ebay will always favor the buyer because they want continued business from that **bleep** buyer.

@sextons-sweet-deals

We do free returns on most items and in the return view, I can typically see the return progress via e-bay.  There is a short window to refund the buyer.  We are dealing with one now - item returned is not what we sold or even carry.  We are awaiting an email from a facebook message.

I am sure you reported your buyer and BBL'd, correct?

Reach out via the Message button on Facebook for Business to e-Bay.  Am guessing the replys are slower on the weekend.  Good luck!!

Re: Increased Returns

yes I did report and block.

I really hate getting on Facebook. The last time I was on was in 2012-2013. Found what I needed and cancelled my membership. It took over a year to finally stop receiving e-mails from Facebook. Do you know this person? Do you know these people?

When I did set up my account, I gave just enough information to open the account. Did not even set a page, upload photos, or make comments. Facebook was actually able to send me photos and names of people that went to my high school, but I never had any type of communication with them back then or now.  I don't remember even stating what school I went to when I opened the account.

Too much tracing, information sharing, and selling of information.

Maybe it is different today, but hesitant to get back on.

Re: Increased Returns

I only get a few returns per year, but they  all come at the end of the year.  As soon as one falls off from the previous year, a new one takes its place.
