I am super disappointed in the eBay Guarantee. To even have eBay step in and help was an act of god it seemed. I was vigilant on trying to resolve my case as quick as possible being as we was talking about almost 500 dollars. As of a month now I still have not received my refund. Pretty sure I’ll probably spend my money with Amazon from now on. I can tell you amazons customer service has been amazing in the past. They have owned there faults by offering compensation and the guarantee they will continue to have good customer appreciation. Definitely didn’t get that from ebay

Glad to hear you have had positive experiences with Amazon.
eBay does have the Money Back Guarantee for buyers. It's pretty easy to activate when there is an issue with an eBay transaction. Pardon me if I cannot tell from your message if or when you used it. It does take a little effort and time on your part.
You've not specified exactly what the issue is. Did you buy something from an eBay seller and not receive it within a few days of its estimated delivery date? You have 30 days to open an item not received case with eBay.
Did you buy something and receive it but it's not the right thing or it's defective? You have 30 days to open a item not as described case with eBay.
When you open either kind of case, you need to wait at least 96 hours for the seller to offer a solution. Not happening? Then you return to the case and ask eBay to step in.
ALL eBay buyers need to familiarize themselves with the MBG, preferably before they begin buying on eBay. It's really quite good when used correctly.

You really have to mess something up in an exceptional way for ebay not to give you all your money back with little or no effort.

You didn't provide any details of the process you went through ... but calling it 'an act of God' to get eBay to step in suggests that you didn't follow the instructions outlined in eBay's Money Back Guarantee. [In fact, you spent more time talking about Amazon than telling us what you've done so far. Without details ... we can't offer much help.
Have you received an email from eBay telling you that you received a refund?
[Please spend your money wherever you wish. Amazon is great ... but you still will have to follow its instructions if you run into a problem ... especially if you buy from a 3rd party seller.]

I went through proper steps which was deal with merchant first. Had to wait a week on them then had to submit a didn’t Receive item claim another week then eBay step in another week and still waiting. You assume cause of lack of info I didn’t do things right. Thanks for your input but still disappointing to have to wait this long for a simple refund.

I followed all proper channels. That’s why it is taking so long. Maybe you have lack of knowledge of the situation and that’s ok. The process has not been very user friendly and time consuming. Time is money. Thanks for your input but was not helpful at all.

I am assuming you probably filed a chargeback with your credit card. Those can take over a month to resolve and ebay has no control over what they do or how long it will take before they make a decision regarding the case.

Under a regular Ebay money back promise as long as you have not filed a chargeback with the payment institution, the cases are resolved lightening fast when ebay has the control to do it.

Sometimes it might take longer in a not received case because they have to be sure that that item was not shipped and received. They have to protect the seller as well as the buyer in a case like that.

I am receiving my money back which I am grateful for. My disappointment stems from the lengthy process of the situation. I had no ideal of the time it would take or why it should take this long. I assumed eBay would have a better process.

You are not really required to contact the seller first, although it's ok that you did so.
I would not give the seller longer than a day or two to respond. If you utilize the MBG and open the INR case, you then wait only 4 days. On the 5th day, you can ask eBay to step in and you are refunded pretty quickly.
If you contacted the seller and then waited a week, that what the delay. Hope you'll keep that in mind if this happens again.

I had asked whether you received an email from eBay telling you that you received a refund. You didn't answer ... so we don't know at what stage of the dispute you're in.
eBay processes refunds within 48 hours. The rest of the time is taken by the buyer's bank ... which can take weeks to process the refund once they receive it. [My bank is large, and processes refunds as fast as eBay. Smaller banks can take much longer.]
I've not had any difficulty getting refunds on eBay whenever I've needed one. It shouldn't take a week to file a case ... and you can ask eBay to 'step in' after only 3 business days. The system is automated.
You're welcome. 😐

eBay told me 48 hours to 7 days to hit my account and still nothing. I do believe they will straighten this out but just sharing my frustration with the process. TIA 😁

I just deleted all I typed ... (including a great 'Howdy Doody' reference 😋) ... once I groked the question.
But ... *Wow!*. That never occurred to me. Has that really happened?
[If none of this makes sense ... then I'm totally off-base and will 'regrok' (if that's possible) Just ignore everything I said. And I'm sorry I deleted the Howdy Doody- Alfred E. Neuman shtick.]
Hope this diffuses the thread ... if nothing else. *sigh* 🙃
