Hang on, we're still reviewing your case We'll be in touch with you soon

I bought a chair from a seller and when I received it is was different that what was listed (it was missing some options that were listed and it was defective).  Also the name on the shipping label wasn't mine (address was correct but name and phone number was someone else).  The seller had multiple listing and only 1 of the model I purchased (other models didn't have the options I purchased).  So I opened a chase and seller responded saying it was ordered from manufacturer with correct options.  I escalated the case and it was put on hold by ebay for 5 days to allow seller to send return label which seller never sent.  Now case says "Hang on, we're still reviewing your case; We'll be in touch with you soon".   I contacted ebay got different answers.  Some say case was ruled in my favor and status should update in 24; another says it is now sent to back offer for review because purchase price is over $1,000.  So after talking to multiple ebay Customer Reps; it turns out that anything over $1,000 get sent to a Back Office for Review (regardless if the Front end ebay Reps rules in your favor. There is no ETA on when the Back Office will make a decision and they can override any decision that front line ebay Reps make.  So now I am in limbo waiting for ebay to make a decision and with no ETA.  If I had known it was going to be like this I would paid to return the chair back to the seller.  I couldn't find anywhere on ebay buyer protection where it states any item over $1,000 get sent to Back Office for review and no ETA on when decision will be made.

^^

This is the only thing I really know to comment on.  You purchased the item, so you provided all of the information that was on the shipping label.  If it isn't correct, you entered it as such and need to change that on your account.

I haven't either. While they wait... is there a possibility that you can go back to a credit card? What's your timeline?

Maybe another poster with some experience in this will happen by. Sorry you're going through this.

My shipping information is correct. I  had purchased another item at the same time and it got to me with the correct name and phone number.  I think what is happening is these new seller who don't know how to use ebay are popping up everywhere. In my case I think the seller just sent me someone else chair (I am giving seller benefit of doubt)

What I am worried about is ebay will find some excuse to rule in seller's favor and I will be stuck with this chair that I didn't buy. At this point I am even ready to send the chair back to sell at my own expense and open a case with my credit card company.  The problem with that is ebay has gotten smart now with the new payment processing.  I paid with paypal and old process was you could see the seller id in paypal.  Now it all goes to ebay.  So even if I open a case through paypal or credit card it will go to ebay and not the seller.  And ebay being the elephant will say buyer went through our proecss already and sign agreement to accept our decision.  What bugs me is when you talk to CS they make it sound like they are your friend and they make it sound like I have nothing to worry about (first answer from them is this case is closed in my favor). Its only when I start asking questions that they tell me the real story.   I even asked them to send me an email that case is closed in my favor as they stated but they won't do that.  I have been on and off ebay for 20 years and its keeps getting worse and worse.  Not only do we have fly by night sellers (my seller has zero feedback and just recently opened his account)  Yes I know I should not have bought from this seller but I could make the case that ebay should not let a new seller sell item over $1,000 and let them establish themselves.  I have ready other buyers in the "hang on, reviewing your case" and wait for 30+ days with no resolution and there is nothing they can do because when they call ebay, ebay says no way to contact Back Offce.

You let ebay figure it out.  If the outcome isn't a full refund, THEN you take it up with your credit card.  You'll win that one.

Going to credit isn't always the answer since its a lengthy process and I ready somewhere that if ebay makes a decision and file chargeback then ultimately ebay and suspend your account.  The more I read about ebay the more it is scary.  I guess I have notice but to wait.  I just wanted to share my experience with everyone.

All too often, the secret to eaby involves two steps:

1.  Learn your way, read the policies, the help pages, and learn from each case if you must file one.

2.  Once you are sure of an outcome, it pays to be very patient.

Still waiting for my refund and ebay still has not ETA on when specialist will finish their review.  I called today and ebay told me that ebay didn't send seller final notification till 27th.  Last week the told me they sent seller finial notificaiton on 24th.  I then wait a few hours and call back and now ebay's story is that a decision was made in my favor on 29th and sent to specialist to review and then another decision was made today in my favor and sent to specialist to review.  Something doesn't add up.  Honestly I really wish someone would startup an ebay alternative (I true ebay alternative that actually know what they doing.  Any other company they have SLA target the have to meet so specialist can't take forever to resolve case.  Here either ebay is not tell me everything or they have not processes in place. Word of advice, do not buy another over $1,000 on ebay otherwise you will be in my shoes with specialist taking forever to make decision.  All this ebay because someone at ebay forget to send the seller the final notification to send return label
