Handing Returns

I recently sold an authentic designer bag to an individual who now wants to return because the bag is too large. I posted measurements, photos with the tape measure on the bag, and scale photos on a mannequin. There is no way they spent this much money without knowing the size of the bag. I have lately added ‘no returns’ to my listings because I’ve been burned in the past but of course I don’t want to burn a bridge.
I’m still fearful that the bag could come back damaged or replaced with a replica bag.
What advice could you offer? The buyer has not officially opened a return, just asked if they could return and noted it was their fault for not reading the listening properly before buying. I am also aware that there is no such thing as "no returns" on eBay.

Re: Handing Returns

Like others have said it is within your right to deny her request but you run a very high risk of her forcing a return by saying the item was not as described. Ebay will not back you and you will have to issue a label and pay for the shipping back in order to get the item back before eBay forces the refund.

You are more likely to attract scammers ever since you changed your policy to no returns. They are hoping that somebody denies the return and then they open an item not described case and you refuse to send them a label and then they get to keep the item and get a full refund.

If you are a top rated seller you also lose your right to take off 50% due to damages by turning on "no returns" instead of having "buyer pays returns".

If I were in your position I would say:

"While I have no returns on this item I do want all my customers to be happy. So if you could open up a return and be honest about the reason that you changed your mind then I will happily accept the return and refund you once I get the item back in its original condition. Thanks for the communication."

She will have to pay to send it back to you in this case, and if you charged shipping separately (when she originally bought) it's your choice if you want to refund that portion or not.

Like I said it is within your right to deny this return but you are putting yourself at huge risk that she forces it with an INAD case.
