I'm pretty new to shipping and selling and this happened to me...Can someone tell me what I should do?
So I sold someone an iPhone 13 pro max but the buyer requested a return. I went ahead and accepted the return and bought them a shipping label via eBay so they could go ahead and send the Phone back to me. A few days later USPS "Delivered" the package saying Delivered, In/At Mailbox. The thing is I never received the package and in fact, none of the neighbors who live on my same street and apartment complex didn't receive any mail that day. Also on the security camera, no mailperson/mail truck went by that day. That was Saturday and on Sunday the Mailman came at 11:18 pm to deliver a single envelope that wasn't my package. Today on Monday I went to USPS and they weren't really helpful and gave me a number to call tomorrow morning. I emailed and filed a claim or support request. I wasn't able to file a missing package request or file an insurance claim because they didn't work. Now that you know that I don't have any options. Why would that happen? Will eBay make me refund the seller even though I don't have the phone? Can someone please give me some guidance.

Normally once the return is classified as delivered you will have to refund. It works the same way when a buyer's package says delivered but they claim not to have gotten it; they will lose an item not received case because tracking shows delivered. Keep in contact with USPS and get them to pinpoint exactly where the package was delivered, it could have been misdelivered.

There is a well know scam where someone will purchase an expensive item and then return a cheap item to a random address within your zip code. eBay will force you to refund and the buyer gets your item for free and they get a refund.
Can not say this is what happened to you, but your situation sure sounds familiar.
What was the City and Zip Code your item was sent to? You can not put their address.

Call or go to your local post office with the tracking number. Explain that the item was supposed to be returned to your address and request that they check the GPS tracking to get the actual delivery address.
Request that they give you something in writing attesting that it wasn't delivered to your address but instead to another location within your zip code.
Then appeal the case.

Oh my goodness @kakok_8 . A new seller with that many expensive Iphones is a magnet for scammers. (in looking at your listings and the bidding histories, most of the bidding was done by 0-feedback and 1-feedback "buyers.")
If you're going to continue selling expensive phones, I recommend you stop doing auctions and run fixed price listings with IPR (immediate payment required). Once sold and paid for, ONLY ship through the order and to the name and address as shown in the order.

Hey so the problem isn't the buyer in this scenario It's USPS. The buyer who made the return has 500 positive stars. It's USPS marking it as delivered and me not actually getting the package. Thanks fir the help though!

That sounds intresting, although this buyer has 500 positive feedback that could be a possibility, I'm going to see the exact address that this item was supposed to be delivered to.

Of course they will have positive feedback. Buyers can only receive positive feedback.
If you want to know what happened to the returned package, follow up with your USPS location as suggested up thread.
It’s unfortunate that after all the responses here, your top take away was the buyer had lots of feedback.
My response would have been to figure out what time my local USPS retail counter opens for the day.
I guess that’s what makes us all different.
P.S.
It’s not USPS. It’s your buyer. And this will happen again.

Did the single envelope have anything to do with your phone @kakok_8 and did you come here to ask for help?
