You've 30 days to spend this money on eBay. There are no other ways to redeem. No cash out allowed.

A gift card is something someone has spent money on.  It can't expire.  A courtesy credit is where a refund has been made without repercussion to the seller.  While it's possible a courtesy credit might expire, I don't see a policy regarding this.  

Are you sure you're not talking about ebay bucks?  Those do have a very limited timeframe to use.

And phone support is notorious for giving false information.

The last time I received a refund for an item purchased using an eBay gift card, the refund amount appeared as a line item with a checkbox on the checkout page which could be applied to a future purchase by checking the box.

eBay gift cards once used are attached to a specific eBay account and cannot be used with any other account, so the balance checker for an eBay gift card should show either the full original amount of the card or else zero (if the card has been used).

Gift cards and gift card refunds typically do not have expiration dates, though certain types of courtesy vouchers might. eBay Bucks certificates used to be valid for 30 days, and refunds of eBay Bucks were typically valid for three weeks from date of issue, but currently eBay Bucks issued quarterly are now valid for a full year.

I was on line last week with eBay, they call it eBay Issued Gift Card. My options were either a Gift Card or wait for a resolution. I specifically ask what is life time of this Gift Card, I was told 30 days.

I understand different financial institutions have different policies but eBay issued Gift Cards have 30 day life span. There might be many different institutions out there offering Gift Cards. So, you need to go to that particular entity and visit their policy.

More!? It's refund issued by eBay. They call it Gift Card.

 Why eBay calls it a Gift Card? Because the process of spending it works as same as a regular Gift Card.

Is there a difference between a regular Gift Card and a REFUND Gift Card? Yes, there is a time limit on a REFUND Gift Cards, as industry practice.

So like the CS person you spoke to, you too are dispensing inaccurate information.

eBay Gift Cards are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash, unless required by law.
eBay Gift Cards and Gift Certificates never expire, and there are no fees.

Ugh! Sorry @otow_18 . I posted before I finished reading and saw that you posted the same info.

This is a Refund. I don't see you addressing the issue. 

A refund was issued in form of  Giff Card. I don't know why but the question clearly says so. When eBay issued a refund, that was probably because they had no other choices. Refund on a return perhaps! We don't know but O P is here on Return board so that would be a strong possibility. 

This Refund Gift Card is issued by eBay. Why? because we see the O P here on eBay. 

So, we have a refund Gift Card, by eBay, for a possible return issue, with individual not knowing how to process it. Hope we are on the same page so far. Are we?

If he bought something with a gift card, returned it and received the refund back to his gift card that might be why he is asking for help on the return board.

It would not expire in 30 days unless someone can point to published ebay policy that says it expires.
