Ebay return. Problem with label.

Here is what Ebay customer service sent me---

I've reviewed the details of the request. The buyer is returning the item for a full refund. A return label was provided to the buyer, but there was an issue with that return label. We're asking you to take further action to arrange return shipping.

I’ve placed the request on hold for 4 days to give you time to arrange the return shipping with the buyer. Please note that if you don’t resolve the issue by December 9, 2023, we’ll issue the buyer a full refund on your behalf without requiring the item to be returned.

There are several ways to provide return postage for your buyer. To learn more about your options, please visit the return shipping items page.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Thanks,

eBay

Problem is--Ebay provided them the return label and I looked everywhere but can not find a way to send them another label

Item does not even show up in Open Returns.

Any idea what the "issue" is with the return label?

The return label doesn't have an issue. It's a pretext to escalate the case, then the buyer goes silent, e.g.

Another pretext is the buyer claims that the post office claims that the Ground Advantage RETURN SERVICE label is insufficient for the return package and gets eBay to escalate the case, then goes silent.

The hold times out, eBay forces the refund, and the buyer keeps the item.

Are you able to at least identify which sale they're referring to? Is the buyer's address out of the U.S.? Was this an eBay International Shipping item?

Ebay return. Problem with label.

You could at least send the return label to the buyer via eBay messages. You can buy a label from PirateShip, Paypal or elsewhere.

Then contact eBay Customer Service via Facebook and explain what is transpiring asking them to confirm the buyer has received the return label via eBay messages and to document that in the case notes and ask them to follow up with a note to the buyer if they might do that.

If you can update any information to that regard in the return case, do that.

Others might be along with other helpful tips.

Good luck.

Have you contacted the buyer to see what the problem is with the label?

Something seems wrong here. First the note you received from eBay, if in fact it came from eBay, does not tell you which item it is, what the issue was with the label and it doesn't show up in your open returns. Can you even find the return label eBay provided them and do you now what item this is for?

Ebay return. Problem with label.

Buyer might not be able to print the label for shipping...doesn't have a printer ...buyer might not be able to do a number of things. I don't know if eBay accepts problems like these for shipping.

Buyer might re-package item making it more heavy and shipping label is not accepted for postage.

Can be any number of problems.

Sounds like the buyer knows what they are doing...just a thought. Refund and keep the item.

eBay doesn't give a clear explanation.

Return shipping options

When you’re responsible for return shipping, you can choose from a number of options in the return request form. To get to the return request form, go to your Returns dashboard and select View return details. If you’ve accepted the buyer’s return or offered to send them a replacement, you can choose one of the following options to let them ship the item back to you.

Send an eBay shipping label

If the package meets the size requirements set by the return carrier, you can purchase a return shipping label through the return request and send it to your buyer. They can then print the label and use it to send the item back to you.

Here’s how to send an eBay shipping label from the View return details section:

  1. Select Send an eBay shipping label.
  2. Confirm your return address on the label.

Return shipping labels don’t include insurance. If you want return shipping to be insured, see our section on alternative return shipping options.

Return shipping costs when you use an eBay label

Provide your own pre-paid label

If you’d rather the buyer use your preferred shipping carrier for return shipping, or if an eBay label isn’t available, you can provide your own return label.

When using your own carrier, make sure to upload the label and tracking details to the buyer’s return request. For items that have a total cost of $750 or more, signature confirmation is required.

Here’s how to send your own label from the View return details section:

  1. Select Upload a shipping label and then the upload image icon.
  2. Choose the label you want to send to your buyer.
  3. Select your carrier and enter the tracking number.

Like I said, I am unable to upload a shipping label.

There is no option available to do that.

The only time I ever had this happen, "problem with label", was when the buyer did not want to pay for the "remorse" return label.

No idea. Buyer will not return messages. Ebay will not return message.

I'm going to try calling them tomorrow.

It seems to me this would be Ebays problem.

When the return was started, I accepted and let Ebay provide the return label.

Wouldn't you think it would be up to them to fix the issue the buyer is having?

Especially when the buyer will not communicate with me?

Not sure why this is hard to understand.

The meltdown of eBay shipping affects return labels just like new outbound labels.

eBay customer service is telling you that are unable to provide the return label and they have given you 4 days to figure out how to provide a label or funds to the buyer.

The easy solutions:

Open a Pirateship account (free) print the label from there to PDF and send it to the buyer.

Go to USPS.com and use click'n'ship to produce a label

Pirateship is the cheapest option, maybe a bit more time consuming if you don't already have an account.

After you provide the label you should go back to the claim and inform the buyer (and eBay) of the tracking number.

Good idea to message the buyer directly as well, no need to waste time contacting eBay support.
