Ebay Refunded a Buyer from MY Funds 19 Days AFTER my 30 Day Return Policy Expired

I sold a scientific calculator on May 3rd, 2022. 

My Photos showed the calculator was clean and worked great.

The Buyer received the calculator on May 5th, only TWO days later

I offer 30 day returns

On June 18th, the buyer entered a return. 44 DAYS LATER

I declined the return and suggested they clean battery contacts and use fresh batteries

On June 23rd I received an Automated Message from Ebay at 10:57 pm Eastern Time stating the buyer ESCALATED THE RETURN - I WAS ASLEEP

Exactly 15 Minutes later at 11:11 pm I received another Automated Message from Ebay stating that Ebay is REFUNDING THE BUYER FROM MY FUNDS. 49 DAYS LATER - I WAS ASLEEP

Ebay Refunded the buyer 49 Days after they received a working calculator and 19 days after my 30 Day Return policy expired.

I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT

MY AGREEMENT WITH EBAY WAS 30 DAYS

EBAY HAS NO RIGHT TO TAKE MONEY FROM MY FUNDS 19 DAYS AFTER MY RETURN POLICY EXPIRED

I NEED TO MAKE A YOUTUBE VIDEO ABOUT THIS ASAP

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EBAY HAS DIRECTLY VIOLATED MY SELLER AGREEMENT WITH THEM.

I AM VERY VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS

I HAVE APPEALED THIS, BUT DOES ANYONE THINK I WILL HEAR BACK FROM EBAY?

It's 30 says from delivery with eBay and 120 days from purchase with Paypal.  A credit card charge back can be a year.   You can't usurp those rules.

I thought I made this clear in my Post

They filed a dispute directly through ebay and not with their Credit Card Company or Financial Institution

Ebay made the decision to Refund them Directly from My funds 49 Days After they Received the Calculator and 19 Days After my 30 Day Return Policy Expired

This was an Ebay process and not a process derived from an external financial company

Tell me how I am usurping ebay rules now?

I believe it is very important for others who are here to learn that you reply with relevant information. 

Your response was misleading and did not address my post at all.  I believe you should thoroughly read a post before responding with information that is generally common knowledge to most experienced sellers, but not applicable to this specific issue.

Something isn't right somewhere.

On Ebay, the buyer has 30 days to file a return from the date they receive the item to be covered by the MBG.

After 30 days, they can still file an INAD, but they are not covered by the MBG and Ebay will not get involved.

I agree Ken, something is very wrong here.  I've been selling on Ebay for 4 years nearly full time and this has never happened before today.

I'm very confused as to why I had to take the time to escalate this to the appeals team

The following conditionss must be met in order for a buyer to file a case in the Resolution Center 

•Buyer purchased the item on an eBay site that has implemented the eBay Money Back Guarantee program

•The item is eligible for protection under the eBay Money Back Guarantee program.  Ineligible items include motor vehicle listings, real estate listings, and Classified listings.

•The item was paid for in one lump payment using any one of the supported payments for that eBay site.

"The case is opened within 45 days of payment for the item, for event tickets, a case must be opened 7 days after payment."

@fab_finds4u   That's obviously an old page with incorrect information.  It hasn't been 45 days after purchase for many years.   It also hasn't been called a case in years..its a return request unless it is escalated. Once escalated it is a case.

I want to thank everyone for replying.  The Ebay appeals team reversed the error and refunded me the money. They said it was an oversight by a new employee and they provided the employee additional training to ensure this does not occur in the future.
