I know eBay always sides with the buyer, but they are trying to return it and make me pay shipping both ways because the item doesn’t have a manufacturers warranty. I had it set up for no returns. I didn’t say anywhere in the listing that it had a warranty, it was an open box item. Is this a valid reason for a return?

Doesn't matter if it's a valid reason or not, the buyer decided to use the MBG.
If you want it returned before refunding, accept the return and provide a shipping label.

Any reason is a valid reason for return on eBay. No such thing as no returns when selling in this venue.
I do agree it should not be but, it's a moot point. Many buyers still don't know there is no warranty on most items sold here.

No but ebay will not enforce the MBG against a buyer.

The buyers here can be some of the most underhanded and conniving you will come across.

If you listed the item as NEW, the expectation is that it has a manufacturer's warranty. Experienced sellers usually will list as New (other) or Used if it lacks the warranty.
You could be faced with a bigger problem if you are selling items as NEW without a manufacturer's warranty. You are at risk for getting flagged for counterfeit and that could have serious effects for you money and your continued ability to sell on Ebay.
