Buyer return

A buyer is returning a comforter cause she said it smelled, It was dry cleaned. I put it in a vac space bag to ship it at the lowest price possible for the buyer. She says she can't suck the air out cause she doesn't have a vacuum.  Ebay sent her the label to return it but no way it's going to cost that little if she doesn't suck it down, she paid $20 in shipping but to send back it's going to be like $50. Ebay isnt going to make me pay the difference are they? I can't help that she's not returning it the same way I sent it. Thanks for any input!

Re: Buyer return

eBay wouldn't be charging you for underpaid shipping, USPS will do that. If shipping does end up costing more you will probably have to pay that difference at the post office to get it.

Re: Buyer return

Wow, that's just not right that thats allowed. we're talking a difference of 30 or 40 bucks on a 60 dollar item.

Re: Buyer return

eBay doesn't control anything the Post Office does. If the return shipping is not on a return priority label and the Post office catches it they will weigh the item, yes you will be charged the difference for priority shipping.

Re: Buyer return

It was sent ground and ebay sent the label which is ground but it will cost way more since shes not going to suck the air out of the space bag so it will be way way bigger than the package I sent. It's just not right , some of us are not businesses but ebay let's buyers get away with whatever they want, and wasn't like that in the beginning. I would never do that to a seller. But oh well. Thanks for your replies.

It's a RETURN SERVICE label, good for up to 70 lbs dimensional weight. If first the post office doesn't stupidly try to charge your buyer at the counter for the NO POSTAGE NEEDED shown on the label,

USPS (not at the post office) will then weigh and measure the label, to bill eBay the permit holder. However if eBay already charged you a price for the label, that will not change.

But if the buyer

1. scans the label at the self-service kiosk

2. to get a receipt then dumps the package in the parcel bin

3. that will avoid standing in line to be hassled at the post office counter.

That may very likely be why it smelled. Things often smell after they are taken out of a space bag, and need to be aired out before they are used.

Re: Buyer return

On the contrary......Any one who sells on eBay is a business... and subject to claiming eBay earnings when filing income taxes.

Re: Buyer return

Yes, since 2004, I think I kept everything we ever bought and stored it in the garage, I was a business from 2006 to 2012, then I dropped it and am just trying to get rid of my stuff since then.

The weight will not have changed at all, the volume of the package will have changed.
