Buyer claiming defective to get me to pay for all shipping

Hello!  I am not too familiar with returns and refunds since I don't sell a lot and have not had to deal with a return for some time.  I just got a refund/return request and the buyer claims the item is not as advertised because they felt the preowned purse I sold them had more wear then they wanted.  I disagree and think this buyer only filed this way so that they would get all their money back on shipping.  They paid for original shipping and because they filed it as a "not as described"  it forces me to pay to have them return it as well.  I of course end up losing money on this item.....  Any help on my options here?  Or do I simply have to do what they ask or reap the repercussions?

for a return like that (interpreting condition) it is a gray area for sure

...that being said, this buyer is going to get a refund one way or the other (it sounds like)

accept the return, issue the return label....wait until you get the item back

then issue the refund (follow the steps or you will lose the item)

do not let ebay 'step in' to help

relist it and you'll be good to go....

This platform offers a money back guarantee to all buyers.  Once the buyer selects Item Not as Described you will have to pay for the return shipping or eBay will deduct it from your account, regardless of how you feel. Your best bet is to accept the return and issue the return label or you will also receive a defect on your selling account. It happens; it's a part of selling online. You can sell the purse again. Best of luck to you....

You only have two options:

Refund and let them keep it.

Pay return shipping and refund once it's returned.

Either way the buyer will get a full refund.

You have to decide if you want it returned before refunding.

Have a great day.

That's just how it is selling online.

How many retailers think all their free returns they provide for defective/not described are actually true ? Abuse has always been bad, and if eBay didn't have these policies, I bet chargeback rate would be higher as basically all cards offer some form of purchase protection.

If it's worth it to get the item back then send a label.

If not just refund and let them keep it.

Block buyer regardless of action
