Sold a backpack. Buyer is asking for a return based on it not matching photos. Says backpack capacity isn’t clear and it’s smaller than advertised. I posted multiple pictures along side a ruler from several perspectives.
There is no option to decline. It’s as if I don’t have a choice. I’ve never had to do a return as a seller. Any advice?

Accept the return
If buyer claims INAD then you either pay for them to return it or you refund them and they keep it

Is there anything I should do different in future listings? From what I’m reading the seller is at the mercy of the buyer no matter how detailed the photos and descriptions are.
Also reading about scams. What should I be aware of during the return process?

You have a better chance of getting the correct item back and not getting scammed if you make returns easy for your buyer.
Also having a No Return policy really doesn't do much because buyers know all they have to do is claim INAD to get you to pay return shipping.

Thanks for the advice. It seems this whole process is automated. What protections as a seller do I have on the return? Let’s say a scenario where I receive a box of paper in return. Is there something that prevents buyer from collecting the original item AND the refund?

No, general rule is don't sell anything on eBay that you can't afford to lose.
