A change in the policy?

In the past whenever a buyer wanted to return something I would get a note from eBay that "a buyer wants a return and we (eBay) have automatically approved the return."

Lately, however, I get a note "A buyer wants to return something. You have until (a date 2-3 days ahead) to resolve the issue or we will automatically approve it for you."

Much better. Now there is a window to try to work something out with the buyer instead of an automatic "return" ding on your metrics.

"Laissez-faire capitalism (AKA The Great Material Continuum) is the only social system based on the recognition of individual rights and, therefore, the only system that bans force from social relationships." ~ Ayn Rand

A change in the policy?

There have been all kinds of changes.

I have not been able to communicate with the buyer IN a return for while now.

Sometimes offering a partial refund from a return is greyed out and I have to get a
CSR involved and we all know how easy that is.

I was instructing buyers to open returns that I can refund from so they don't get the bright idea to try and return it after I partially refund. Also I want to problematic ones to have returns on their record so I can report them.

Taking away the ability to withhold original shipping on a return was a terrible decision.
