Thanks for joining us for the Weekly Chat with eBay Staff. We don't have a specific topic this week, so feel free to share any general buying or selling questions you may have.
The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, type your question, and hit submit between 1-2 PM Pacific Time. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically. The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep scrolling down to see our answers.
Missed the chat? Send your questions to the podcast by calling 888-723-4630 or email us at podcast@ebay.com and maybe your questions will make it on the air! Or listen to past episodes while you wait for next Wednesday!

In a belated announcement on Nov 4th, ebay acknowledged the changes made to stores and stated: "You’ll see more updates and enhancements to Stores over the coming weeks and months, including the ability to add a video to your About tab telling buyers more about you and your business."
As we've discussed here before, two features announced in the Fall Update have not yet been released, so I suppose they are part of the updates and enhancements. I know I'm probably just shouting into the wind, but could we get a more precise timeline than the "coming weeks and months"? I don't expect ebay to actually provide a date certain, since announcing and meeting a deadline seems to be beyond ebay's capabilities. But "weeks and months" can mean anything from "before Black Friday" to "some time in 2022" Because we are firmly in the critical 4th Quarter, it would REALLY be nice to know which, if any, new features will be available by, say, Black Friday, or soon thereafter.

Hey how's it going @my-cottage-books-and-antiques?!
Currently I don't have any other details on the timeline, keep an eye on your eBay messages for updates!

The changes to categories were supposed to be finished in mid-late October, but many items are still miscategorized and the corrections don't always stick. Is there a timeline for when it will be safe to correct the categorization? Any chance that whatever automated process makes the mistakes will eventually correct them?

I'll probably be asking this one every week until the end of Q4, or until ebay actually provides some information, but here goes: Black Friday is now just a few weeks away.....again, it would be really nice if our partner, ebay, would let us in on at least a general idea of whatever marketing ebay is going to do this Q4....A competing site already launched video ads.
Anything?

Hello
I had a question about item specifics for dolls. "Type" will be required soon, so I was hoping perhaps by the time it was required a new choice could be added - currently none of the types apply to the kind of dolls I collect & sell. I'm not actually 100% sure what could be there, but it would help to have something for 1940-1960s hard plastic and vinyl dolls. I went down the list (photo attached) and none of the types apply. They aren't actually play dolls, since mostly they get collected and displayed. Perhaps "collectible" dolls would be possible? Vintage perhaps? Hard plastic and also vinyl?
If not required it won't be an issue - but if required I will struggle.

Thanks for the suggestion @tink012 I'm happy to pass it along! In the meantime please make sure to use the Enter your own field!

I just wanted to get some clarification on a discussion I was having on a thread a week or two ago regarding INRs.
When a buyer files an INR, the seller received an email notification of the claim being filed. The seller has the opportunity to enter an explanation if need and a tracking number if needed.
It is my understanding that the seller is NOT required to enter an explanation and NOT required to enter a tracking number if the tracking number was previously recorded in Ebay. Meaning the seller either created their label using Ebay or they copied the tracking number in on some date BEFORE the INR was filed.
Please verify or correct what my understanding is.
Thank you.

jasmen@ebay Slow. Sales are going much slower than I'd like.
As to keeping an eye on ebay messages for updates? Considering that we can't trust ebay to actually announce when they make the changes, that seems like rather optimistic advice. But I'll follow it.

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques! We haven't received any additional info outside of what Tyler mentioned last week. I'll include the link again to last month's Check-In (link here) for the commentary on Holiday.

Hello all,
What is this week's update on the ongoing problem with Khoros being unable to retrieve the poster's avatar, feedback count and item listings from eBay? In particular, what further work (debugging, testing, etc.) has been performed on this since this time last week? Thanks...

Hi @essexriverantiques - the actual changes are complete, and your items should not be being moved any longer. If you are encountering items being re-categorized after you move them will you tag one of us to a thread and provide a bit more detail? The category team will want a few item numbers as examples, including the category they should be in and the category that it keeps switching to.
Thanks!

Thank you! I did wonder about "enter your own", I heard somewhere that doing that negates the benefit of choosing a specific - that your item won't be seen as often. Is that correct?
@tink012 If the buyer searches whatever you enter there it will still come up so still add it! Make sure to always represent your item as accurately as possible, as long as you do that, buyers will find your items no problem.
