Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us the Weekly Chat with eBay Staff. We don't have a specific topic this week, so feel free to share any general buying or selling questions you may have!

The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close the thread from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.

I am waiting for my banking to get verified for Managed Payments. I am a little concerned because they have already responded using a wrong name for my bank. How detailed is their usual response when there is an issue? What happens to me, the seller, if they don't listen and can't get it straight?

Hi @postcardcountry - that would definitely be stressful. In my experience they are fairly detailed, but if you're concerned about it you can always request that a payments teammate call you to go through your information!

Concerning MP and conflicting information and please correct me if I am wrong. I can't post on the Can boards so am posting here.

At present, with managed payments we can still list on .com as well as .ca but all money must be deposited to a Canadian bank.

If that is correct, then we will be paying currency exchange to have the US $ deposited to the Canadian bank?

Possibly at a later date and I say possibly,  if we list on .com and .ca we might be able to deposit US $ to a US domiciled bank account and Can $ to a Canadian bank.  Is that correct, and then no currency exchange fees

Any sellers that sell in a category not supported by MP will not be asked to join MP until this problem is resolved and at this point, no one know when that may happen?

Hi @papermoneyforme, while things may change in the future, I can confirm that as of today, July 1, 2020, that:

  • At present, you can list on both .com and .ca but you would need to have your funds deposited into a Canadian bank account
  • There is a fee for currency exchange
  • I can't speak to what may change in the future, but can confirm that it is a priority for us to allow Canadian sellers to receive USD and CAD through the same account
  • Sellers whose business is primarily focused on a category not supported by managed payments at this time would not be asked to join at this time. If a seller has received an invite, but their business would be adversely affected by joining, they are welcome to contact our managed payments teammates to discuss this further

One more for you kind Blues -

If I'm running a Markdown Sale and try to modify (decrease) a price - I noticed that after the sale is done the price goes back to the way it was.  Is there a way to modify the price and have it stick while it's on sale?  I run a 25% off 24/7/365.  Thanks.

@wheredidiputthatremote that's a great question! I did some research and it does appear this is by design, but I'll verify this to be sure. If I hear otherwise then I'll let you know. If you don't hear from me then it's because this is working as intended.

When a sale ends the price is revised back to the original price prior to the sales start time. To make a permanent revision to an items price you'd need to do it while it's not on sale. Thanks!

I registered for MP a few weeks ago. Last week I got a request saying my bank information needed to be verified. Okay. So I uploaded a printed form from my bank for setting up direct deposit. It has my name (identical to my registered name on eBay), the bank name, account type (checking), account #, routing #, bank address, and a copy of a voided check.

Now 5 days later, I'm back at square one with the red message at the top of my pages saying I need to verify my bank information but with no feedback as to what the problem is or what else I might need. I uploaded the same form again hoping that it will get approved this time.  If it doesn't, I don't know what other information to give.

Hi @carolynnq - that's a headscratcher, to be sure.

I would request a callback from a payments teammate so they can review and see what's going on with the information you've submitted already. If you go to the bottom of this page there should be a 'Have us call you' option.

Thanks!

what is the matter with the chat board?

Hi @papermoneyforme - it looks like the chat board has a delay on the total comment counter whenever a new thread is opened on the board. It eventually catches up, but it's something we're working on to be addressed.

Thanks!

How do you handle an INR case.
The buyer opened the case on June 23rd.
Tracking numbers got reversed in our shipping dept and he never received his item.
I over nighted him another one that day. He received and signed for it on June 24th.
How do I get him to close the case?

Last week, ebay made either an unannounced change to the Packing Slip layout or began running a test for a new Packing Slip. A few questions:

1. Some sellers have worked hard to personalize their Packing Slips, and overnite: poof! all their work went up in smoke! We've been promised there would be announcements when ebay makes changes that effect people so dramatically, but , once again, NO advance notice. Why on earth was this not announced in advance?

2. I'm sure there are workarounds sellers can use in order to send out more personalized packing slips, but they really shouldn't be necessary. Jordan has talked a lot about how unique ebay sellers are, how one size doesn't fit all, and yet here we have a clear effort to impose a relentless uniformity . I know you guys don't usually answer "why" questions, but I'll ask: WHY? Why did anyone at ebay thinking REDUCING our ability to personalize the packing slip would be a good thing? Maybe you can ask the Shipping team for an explanation. This is just one more example of ebay taking away the sort of personalization that small sellers can and should bring to ecommerce.

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques, happy to provide some more context on this; we had to introduce standardized text because the free text box poses the potential for risk to site/account security. This could either be through malicious code, or inappropriate message content that isn't possible to automatically identify or block, especially considering the number of languages that are used across all eBay domains. If you have any suggestions on pre-filled messages you would like to see available, feel free to start a thread on the boards and @mention a member of the team and we'll be happy to pass these along!

As we got to the end of the second quarter here, I noticed a complete absence of any eBay Bucks specials. The last one I received was June 1. Are they on the way out, or...?

Hello xxxx

I'll preface this with a note that this information is written at a high level and that it's best to contact customer service for information specific to your account.

In order to sell on eBay.com, a seller would have to have a US Government issued identifier such as a Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number (TIN). If a seller only has CA issued identifiers, they would have to sell on eBay.ca

That said, a CA citizen could potentially sell on eBay.com if they have a business that is registered to operate in the US. I can't speak to the legalities of corporate structures and forming one, but if a seller has a US TIN for their business, then they should be able to register on eBay.com

Since I've used the Seller Hub, which is a long time, the link in the Orders box for the Resolution Center has never been accurate.  It always shows zero even when there is an open return request, INR, UID, cancellation, etc.

After all this time I think it is reasonable to think this line would be functioning.  Any ideas if Ebay intends on fixing it or just leaving it the way it is, which isn't helping at all.

Hi @mam98031, happy to dig into this and work with our Seller Hub/Tech teams to investigate. Can you send us some screenshots of what you are seeing in Seller Hub and the Resolution Center to the Community email address? Thanks in advance!

OK, but this can't possibly be a new issue.  It has been this way all along on the Seller Hub.

Hi @mam98031, it's probably not a new issue, I just usually need a recent example as a part of chasing down these kinds of issues so thanks for the screenshot!
