I received an offer from a seller for an item and decided to accept it. At each and every step in the process, from reviewing the offer, to accepting the offer, to confirming my acceptance eBay kept warning me that the "Seller doesn't ship to your location". Once I confirmed my acceptance, I clicked the "pay now" button, paid for the item w/shipping and sales tax added and received my order number.
This seems to be a glitch that could very well be the cause of some of the posts on the main boards about people being told that they can't purchase because the seller doesn't ship to their location. They're seeing that first screen and instead of trying to follow it through, simply give up on the purchase. I wonder how many sellers may have lost sales because of eBay providing misinformation to the potential buyer?

Probably quite a few. eBay has been aware of this bug for awhile and are "working on it".
We've had to tell many buyers (& sellers) to ignore the message and continue to pay, but certainly there are those that just abandon it, especially if the seller doesn't know how to fix it.

Just as a follow up, my Informed Delivery and eBay tracking have both verified that my seller has shipped. So, despite the repeated warnings that my "Seller does not ship to my location", they apparently do.
Perhaps during the next "General topics" community discussion I'll ask tyler@ebay or one of the other hosts/hostesses of that chat if any progress has been made on fixing this. If I remember! 🤣

In my case, it was a "no go." I attempted to accept the offer, saw the item was listed as "sold," was told I now obligated myself to buy the item, and I even paid for the purchase. Albeit, yes, ebay -- as you pointed out -- did flag on issues of addressing. Nevertheless, in the end, my purchase failed. Vendor has to correct the address or it is blocked. The payment button will not turn blue to accept the payment (it remains grey).

Well, the saga continues -- or I should say the mess. Ebay denies 100% what is said by those here on this issue. Said it was NOT their policy and ebay community was only giving an opinion. Ebay really should NEVER have allowed this offer to come to me. They admitted it was a general offer. How am I to know this, pray tell? Especially, when the community has erroneous data. I always thought an offer was Moses on the Mount. Apparently, not true. Yet, oddly, ebay keeps telling me I have committed to this and need to pay. They keep warning I could get bad reviews. WOW! Ebay needs better discriminator/sort and eliminate software in this matter. This should never ever been offered to me. I should have been sorted out since not in the approved region of the vendor. Now, the vendor has to wait until the offer time expires before a buyer can get the item. I am certain they are ticked at me. But, I am not to blame. I was given an offer. I accepted. I tried to pay....and then all fell apart.

One final thought on this mess: this problem does prove that an offer is not carved in stone. I used to think that. Yes, all the warnings from ebay and reminders from ebay seem to indicate that Yes, I got an offer. It meant nothing. I got it. It was not meant for me. Therefore, whilst I may forfeit some offered items, from now on I shall authenticate every offer as valid. I recommend you do the same. By the way, here is another fuzzy part on this. One ebay rep. told me I should get the item. All I need do is ask for the shipping service shipping invoice. But, to muddy it up more, the other ebay rep. essentially told me the offer was not meant for me. This totally cheapens the offer process. Again, I shall verify each offer is for me before committing to anything. Oh, got another reminder to pay from ebay. HEY, EBAY, YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT LET ME. WHY CAN'T YOUR COMPUTERS SHOW THAT? Better yet, get discrimination software so one does not get offers not intended for them and cannot accept offers not really belonging to them. None of this should have happened.
