I was just thinking the same thing. It really is annoying! I figured it was one of EBay's new "enhancements"

If you find the heading dropdown menus more trouble than they are worth, it is possible to hide them using Adblock's "block an ad on this page" feature. Of course once you do that, if you want to use the headings again you either have to pause Adblock or navigate to another page.

Adblock is a browser extension that blocks ads, but it can also be used to hide individual elements of web pages. With Adblock installed in your browser, if you decide to hide something, you can hover your mouse over a portion of the web page to select it, move a slider to fine tune the scope of your block, and make that portion of the web page disappear. Once done, that element will no longer be present on the web page when it is loaded again, unless you turn Adblock off.

Not to be confused with Adblock Plus, which is a different browser extension.

I can't train myself (yet) to NOT swipe up into that and block 75% of the screen. This is perhaps the most nonsensical upgrade I've ever seen. And there have been some doozies!
