eBay listing shows different (much higher) shipping charges than what I listed

A few potential buyers messaged me that my shipping charges were so outrageous they wouldn't think of purchasing from me.  The shipping charges I listed were based on eBay's calculator and were reasonable.  When I checked my listings the charges were correct.  However, I discovered from a couple of buyers who were kind enough to take a screen shot of a few of my listings, that the charges shown to them were outrageously higher than I'd listed and that I could see.  I talked to an eBay  rep who got back to me that indeed it was a mistake on eBay's part but that unfortunately she couldn't tell me if and when it would be fixed.   The only thing I could think to do was edit every one of my listings to show free shipping, and guess as to how much I should raise prices to compensate.

This is not a good solution.  It's outrageous that no one at eBay can tell me why this is happening, and that they cannot fix it.  Hard to say how much business I lost before learning that there was a problem.  Still not fixed, still frustrating.

I looked at your Capezio cross-body bag.  It shows $9.00 shipping via first class parcel, to me in 92802.  There is no first class parcel rate for $9.00 that I can recall.  I believe the highest price via FCP is in the $6.00 range.  Then I changed the zip code to 10010 and it still shows $9.00 shipping.

Rather than using a fixed price, you should be using a Calculated rate, so the buyer is paying by weight/distance from your zip code to their zip code.  Place your item on a scale along with your packaging materials and that's the weight you use (round up to nearest pound), along with the dimensions of the package, and let ebay calculate the cost to your buyer's zip code, and the cost won't look outrageous to your buyers.

I was just contacted re an item the buyer says was 'free shipping' as she sees it - my listing clearly says $4.00 shipping rate -

then when I went to change it, the "fill in" boxes are not the same as we are used to, there's just some jumble of several categories with different numbers of my listings in each categories...

 WHEN DID THIS CHANGE?  DO I HAVE TO GO THROUGH EACH OF A THOUSAND LISTINGS TO CHECK WHAT CHANGED?

ALERT! ALERT!

all my listing's shipping costs have been dumped into several categories applied WHEN? that are totally incorrect - FOR EXAMPLE,

men's pants that were entered as priority mail, $7.00 flat, were changed to $4.00 first class flat

china sugar and creamer entered as priority mail $9.00 flat were changed to $4.00 first class flat

I WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS WITH THESE ERRORS UNLESS I GET THEM FIXED

When I try to change them individually, the choice to change from first class to priority is not available!!!!!!!!!!!

@bitbeat

Do you use Business Policies for shipping? Because that's what your description of the problem sounds like to me. (the 'several categories with item numbers')

thanks - I called in and found that when the CSR adjusted my 'handling times', I was entered into a pilot for business policies.

Have squared it away but had to spend a great deal of time adjusting 1000 listings, and got burned on several inadequate shipping costs.
