I find that many listings of collectible books have a blank item description even when seller says see more info. What gives?

Many of those individuals are not really "book people," and not only do not understand how important the item description is to a buyer, but also those sellers do not have a CLUE about what information to include.
If a seller can't take the time to fill in the "item description" box, (or doesn't understand what is meant by the term "item description") -- just pass 'em by -- they are NOT serious "book people."

Try using another browser as a test. If the description is blank in the test browser, try manually deleting just your eBay cookies in the test browser. If that restores the description, try the same thing in the original browser.
