Why can’t I respond to other’s comments?

Hello community,

I’ve always tried to figure out eBays Community and try to navigate around, but I’m just terrible at it.  I really want to learn from others and feel I have a lot to share as well, so I really want to be able to navigate around and be involved. 
However, when I go to reply to a post, the “reply” is grayed out and I can’t respond.  😞 

I did see, at the bottom of the page, where eBay says I can’t respond because of an email I didn’t verify way back when.  It says to go to some who-biddy-what place and I think ask them to send another email?  So I set out to fix this issue and tapped on my account icon, but I can’t find anything even related to fixing this.  
I know many of you will know exactly what I am to do within seconds, so I thank you in advance.

You are able to post, so you should be able to respond to posts on many discussion boards.

The only exceptions would be certain boards like the Mentor board where only designated mentors can reply, or some groups that require joining before posting, or some old threads that are locked and where no one can respond any more.

In some cases, if you have not signed in recently, you may have to sign in again in order to be able to post or reply.

Not sure what that means. If you see that again, please post the exact text of the message you see.

That’s a great idea.  I will screen shot what it said at the bottom of the page. 

im pretty sure general community posts is still grayed out on the “reply” button but it sure let me respond to you.  Yay.  
first it said, “accept the solution”, then this text area opened up for me to write.

Thank you.  I know I have far to go in learning these types of things but I really want to be involved so I’ll keep learning and trying. 😁

I posted a question about a mark on a piece of gold I’m thinking about buying but I can’t find my question or wether anyone has responded. 

I know when you respond because I see a red bell near the top of community page. 

Am I hopeless?

To see replies, click on the "Replies" tab, otherwise you will see only threads you started as the original poster.

Only a handful of users can respond to posts on the Mentor board, and few of them are experts in jewelry; on the Jewelry board, you are much more likely to get your question seen by someone who can help.
