Unable to create promotions for specific SKUs in multi-variation listings

I am trying to create promotions for individual SKUs in my multi-variation listing, but it appears it's not working. I tried manually entering the SKUs of the items, but no promotions appear on the eBay listing. When I try to navigate and search for all SKUs in the specific category, I only get the SKU of the master listing (which encompasses all the variations).

How can I create promotions for specific variations in a multi-variation listing? Is this even possible or is this a technical limitation with the eBay website?

I doubt that this is possible.

The makeup of variations listings is markedly different from the makeup of single item listings.

You may only be able to promo the entire item (and it's variations).
