I have noticed this problem twice in the past week when I did fairly broad product searches, and it is a new bug (for me anyway).
The search I did this morning was: Women's tops, sizes M , L, 8 & 10, short sleeved & sleeveless, location US only, & sorted by lowest price first.
On the first two pages I viewed (240 items/page), everything appeared normally. But when I navigated to the 3rd page, the only items displayed were 2 sponsored items that were significantly higher in price than where I left off on page 2. When I navigated to the next page, same problem, except these were 2 different items, but again higher-priced sponsored items, and no other items on the page. I navigated to 2-3 more pages and then gave up and stopped shopping. I think I was thwarted at about $5 tops, so I would have shopped a lot longer if it hadn't been for this bug.
This happened to me a few days ago as well. At that time I had been searching for something else but I don't remember what.
