I am a longstanding eBay buyer/seller from the United States.
A few years ago I moved to France, but because of PayPal restrictions, I was never ever able to use my U.S. debit card with PP in France. Even though my eBay/PP street address was updated to reflect my French street address... there was no eBay/PP activity whatsoever. I never bought nor sold anything on eBay while living in Europe... not even using a VISA card. I was inactive for 7 years.
I relocated back to the U.S. 2 months ago and then updated both eBay and PP with my new U.S. address.
Now, when searching eBay, the search results and options look normal. BUT, as soon as I sign-in, and want to add the found item to my Watchlist, the same search results refresh and appear different immediately after I sign-in, and defaulting to European display of search results. The U.S. eBay store where I wanted to buy an item no longer appears.
I could delete my account, sign-up again, but I would loose my record of hundreds of positive reviews. I see nothing in account settings to set the U.S. as my default location. The U.S. address is obviously there, so I don't know why eBay doesn't recognize it.
FYI... I've been using the same U.S. debit card for years, the one that has always been listed with eBay and PP. The address for my bank reflects my current U.S. address. The address in PP has been updated to my current address. The American bank, eBay, and PP all agree.
I didn't see any category in the eBay "Contact Us" menu system for this type of problem.
I don't know what the problem is, nor how to resolve it. Ideas?

Your account is apparently still using a French address to calculate shipping.
Try a search, then select the "Nearest first" sort order in the upper right. You should see a postal code. Use that to change the location used to calculate your shipping. Update that to reflect your US shipping address.

Here is a screenshot after signing-our, and the signing-in 2 minutes. eBay still thinks I am in France.

Did you change ALL your addresses on eBay? There are multiple addresses in your account profile as a buyer the most important one is highlighted below.

I goofed. Thanks. Thought I had already corrected that, but should have double-checked. Things are slippin' a bit now that I am 75 years old. Thanks again. 🙂

You are most welcome -- glad to hear you were able to sort it out.
The shipping address can cause lot of confusion, even for folks that have not changed countries. In this case, since a valid US zip code may also be a valid French postal code, even if your correct zip code appears at the top of your search, you can still have the wrong country specified, and eBay does not make that clear until you try to have something shipped that does not ship to one country.
