Search fails to find an item

I have a lot of saved searches but often I find that a straight google finds listings but the Ebay search doesn't.

Example:

ipm-429 or ipm* should find this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124297525571

One clue may be that I am in the UK but the seller does not ship to the UK. Could this do it? I can easily buy via a colleague in the US.

Thank you in advance,

Peter

If you search eBay using a UK address to calculate shipping, by default eBay will show you items that ship to your location and will not show you items that do not.

Unless you are using the "worldwide" item location setting, eBay may hide international items that take longer than average to get to your location or that may have additional customs duties as well.

Thank you!

How can I config the Ebay saved searches to use a worldwide location setting?

I still want to appear that I am in the UK when selling items.

If you are searching using the eBay app, there is a way to enable "lockable filters" and then lock your filter settings so that your default item location is "worldwide".

If you are searching using a desktop browser, there is not an option like that available through eBay, though for certain browsers you may be able to get a browser add-on called "eBay item location -- my country only" that can be used to override eBay's "default" item location, and change to a particular country or "worldwide" instead.

Or you can create a search, change the item location filter setting yourself, then bookmark or save the search and use the bookmarked or saved search as the starting point for future searches.

Search fails to find an item

I am using Chrome on a PC.

The problem seems to be that the only way to change my location is by entering a fake address

https://www.nembol.com/how-to/ebay-item-location-policy-and-errors

This may be the plug-in you mentioned but it is only for Firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/ebay-search-my-country-only/

but this is for the seller location.

Is there any way to edit a saved search and change it to be Worldwide?

Try this link:

Use your actual shipping address location to see items that can be shipped to you when searching. Why would you use a "fake" address if you cannot receive shipments there?

You can edit a saved search by using the saved search, altering the search, then saving the resulting search and deleting the old search, if necessary.

You appear to still be using a UK postal code to calculate your shipping. You will only be able to see listings that ship to your location.

If there are no listings that ship to your location, you will get no results.

Removing the postcode is not possible (it does not stick) if the region is Worldwide. I have tried all kinds of stuff.

Can *you* find that item with that search?

There are two separate locations to be concerned with.

"Worldwide" is for the item location, if you want to see items that ship from anywhere. You can choose to see items that ship from various locations, and avoid others.

Your postal code is for your own shipping location, where you receive items shipped to you. If you have an alternative shipping location where you can receive packages, use that location instead to see items that ship to that location. eBay uses this location to calculate your shipping estimates. You can see this location in the shipping tab of an item listing, or by sorting by "Distance: nearest first".

If an item does not ship to your chosen location, eBay will not show it to you when searching.

This is incredibly complicated. I see this

To change my own location I would need to in this case create a fake address in the US.

Can *you* find that item with that search?

If you want to see listings that ship to the USA there are two things you can do.

1 - go to any listings page, go to the Shipping Tab, change your location to the USA and use a US zip code (90210 will do), now you will be shown listings that ship to the USA

Or a similar approach....

Do a search, in the results page in the upper right you will see your location, change it to USA with a US zip code.

If you are planning to ship to a US friend then use their zip code for accurate shipping cost information.

By default eBay does not show you listings that don't ship to your location, the location is established by a) your default ship to address or b) the location used in the instructions above.

Right - thank you! That is what I was saying above - you have to create a fake US address.

However it still won't show, and I have done this:

The URL I am using is

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=ipm-429&LH_PrefLoc=2&_svsrch=1&_fcid=1&_stpos=90210

You are right!!!

However this is not a universal answer; a lot of US listings do show on ebay.co.uk.
