Hi All, I've logged in this morning and found that a regular search I've been using for years has had the criteria changed to search in a specific category rather than 'all'. This took me a while to figure out but now I've reset to how it has always been. When I came to use the search, any item I clicked on opened in a new tab which has never happened before in fifteen years of use.
I have cleared caches and it is still happening.
Has any one else had their searches altered or experienced the 'new tab' thing?

Yes. I know the category I am searching in has over 300,000 listings and now it rarely shows 30,000. If I was selling I'd be **bleep**!! But us buyers also find less utility when we can't find things. Maybe less time in near outerspace and more time on the earth based space that pays for the frivolous trips!!!

eBay will steer certain searches into a particular category based on the keywords used in the search. From time to time, eBay updates those keywords and categories. Perhaps your keywords have recently become associated with a particular category by eBay. Possibly this is related to the recent category reorganization.
Others have noted item links in search results open in new tabs in the past. There are ways to set the default link/tab behavior in your browser, but doing so may have unintended consequences, such as causing problems with checkout.

This is a result of the "improved" upgrade that Ebay implemented recently. The changes are not helpful and, in fact, hinder the buying and selling experience. You'll find many changes to some of your favorite categories, as well. Such the elimination of many subcategories.
