Scammers Using eBay Phone #

There are some **bleep** scammers that are using the fact that eBays help number which is 866-540-3229 is similar to the number they have taken out of 800-540-3229. If you accidentally dial 800 instead of 866 for this number you will end up with a bombardment of ads and requests for personal information, all masquerading as customer support. The awful people who are doing this need to be in jail. eBay, being affiliated with these scammers, by a simple switch of 866 and 800, should not be acceptable. How many customers are you going to lose because of this? You almost lost me until I realized it isn't eBay.

I suggest letting your supervisor know, so the legal department can track down the operators of this heartless scam.

Whether eBay likes it or not, they are affiliated with these people until they take action. Many people will dial 800 as it is more common. Do not ignore this issue because you think it is unrelated to eBay.

The inevitability of people making this mistake means that eBay is associating with these scammers. Until they take action.
