Some time ago, I was in negotiations with a seller to buy some aluminum heads. They were a bargain at $800.00, but I managed to acquire them at $600.00; or so I thought. For no sooner than he agreed, somebody swooped in and bought them right out from under me within seconds. The heads had been posted for days, so I really don't think it was coincidental that somebody bought them right at the time they did. This was somebody with eBay who did this. Somebody at a computer terminal with access to everything.

Just today, however, I was about to purchase some transmission parts from a specific seller. I had at least a half dozen of his products in my cart, and "all" of them were discounted by coupon until the eleventh of this month. But when I went to purchase them, the coupons had been removed. Another coincidence? I spent days planning and carefully choosing my parts, and it was all wiped out in an instant.

Fact is, there is no privacy here, and the vast majority of sellers are not only Asian, but each clearly juggling several accounts, further working for a single entity in most cases. In other words, nothing is legitimate or honest; let alone private or even fair.

I mean really. The prices are virtually identical on anything and everything, and this is suppose to be a free market. But in having written five different sellers about like seat covers, the same guy responded to each email, saying the same things, further at the same time. What are the odds!?

You creeps really aren't fooling anyone, and I'm rather sure that it's against the law on numerous levels...

Just to clarify for you here regarding the last sentence of your message:  When you post here, you are not addressing eBay, its employees or its management.

These Boards are staffed by fellow eBayers, buyers and sellers, who volunteer their time here to help others when we can.

We had nothing to do with your issue.  And most of us probably resent being labeled as "creeps".

I do assume that there are some sellers that use many accounts for selling the same items.  Those aren’t the best sellers – they are just de-risking in the case that one/some of their ID’s are shut down for poor performance.  And, yes, then this happens, you’ll get little to no difference in pricing.

It really does come to what you buy.  It certainly isn’t all of eBay, or even the majority of eBay, or even close to it.  Personally, I avoid buying anything from China.  I really try to not buy anything from outside of the U.S., especially now with increased tariffs/removal of de minimis.

And, sure, I don’t doubt that there are many creeps.  eBay (and everywhere, if you have a large enough group) will have its share of creeps.  No offense taken.
