Photo Uploader slow or not uploading at all

Hi,

I'm on a Mac using current version/update of Mojave OS. Browser is Safari. Never had an issue until yesterday. Just thought it might be my internet but I am able to upload photos on competitor platforms. Photos are taking 5+ minutes for "1", that's right, one photo to load. I'm not able to list because of the slowness. Most times it doesn't even load a photo at all. I've tried one at a time or twelve at a time and it's the same result. I haven't changed anything and it was working perfectly a couple days ago. Anyone else experiencing issues. I'm in AZ 7:10pm, problem noticed yesterday.

Photo uploader is working fine using Firefox 31 in WinXP, and no other complaints on the boards I've seen.

OS update, Safari update, eBay tinkering, whatever - something changed somewhere.

Can you try some other browser like Firefox?

Attempted to load photos using another browser (Firefox) and the same issue occurred. I tried to upload 6 photos and the first one got an image error invalid photo message (The file seems to be corrupted. Please remove it and upload valid JPG, GIF or PNG, TIF or BMP file.) after 3:17 minutes and the subsequent 2 photos are at 37% and 14% at 5:07 and the remaining 3 photos are at 0%. I'm stumped. Obviously something has changed and it looks like I'm an isolated incident but everything was working just fine 3 days ago.

Well, something changed back, not sure what but it appears that it was a long intermittent issue and has gone away for the time being. I'll come back here if the problem resurfaces. No real explanation...

I have been having issues uploading photos for the listings I do for this seller.  I have found that Windows running Chrome and uploading photos from an MTP device fails. However, my issue was fixed by switching to Firefox - Apparently there are some issues with the MTP transfer protocol on Windows 10 in general, and with Chrome specifically.

I am unable to get any useful debugging output (as is the way with most modern software, now!) suffice to say, eBay's selling application/page spews out plenty of wonderfully extensive error messages regarding depreciated browser routines and synchronous rendering failures, etc.

I would vote for an 'Issues' page for eBay so people can get confirmation on issues to be expected and workarounds people have found which work.

As it is part of my job to list items, I found this whole issue very frustrating, wasting company time on checking for errors eBay should've informed US about originally. Possibly via a vertical 'Having issues?' tab.

I was getting a UUID/GUID populated in the 'Filename' field of Chrome's 'Open File' dialogue.  From what I can tell, Chrome's data loading function doesn't work with an MTP source.  Also, research showed recurring errors regarding MTP support in Windows 10.  I also uncovered issues with eBay's ISAPI and various extensions/add-ons, including uBlockOrigin 😞

I believe we'll be moving to Firefox in the very near future in order to deal with eBay's and Google's faults and to ensure continued sales.

Additionally, I am reminded of the time eBay's servers spat out it's eBayISAPI.dll binary file and my browser actually downloaded it instead of rendering the web page!  I find it hard to completely trust eBay's coding right now 😕
