New software for the eBay website is a total fail! Why are you doing this?

WHY are you trying to redesign the software on the eBay website? EVERY TIME that you do this, the software becomes less user friendly than it was before. Right now, for the first two weeks in June of 2018, NO links are working as before: Ended listings may not be accessed; "view similar items" brings up nothing that is similar; items may not be added to lists or deleted from lists; every other link attempted brings up only a "Sorry something went wrong" message. I could go on for pages regarding all the software functions now on the eBay website which are NOT working. What matters is why you are making these changes if your engineers are too incompetent to make the website work as before?  Why "fix" something that was NOT "broken" to begin with. Is there any link for users to access in order to use the old eBay software, or software which used to work? IF these glitches are not removed, I am leaving eBay forever. No one has enough time in his or her life to spend hours just trying to make the software on an Internet website work!

I have a few items up for sale now, and on my pages, the bid price is not even shown. All that appears is the highly inflated "Buy it Now" price. Little wonder that no one is bidding if this is what sellers see, too. Also, no "ended listings" are able to be accessed; when one clicks onto the link of an "ended" item (whether it just "ended" or was sold), all one sees is eBay's lame offering for a "similar item which you might like." That item shown invariably has nothing to do with the ended item which one seeks to look at. Also, nothing is able to be deleted from lists or added to lists. Only error messages appear when one tries to perform this routine function.

Over the last several days, I have called eBay Customer Service about three times to complain and had to wait hours to get through. Then, the rep informs me that I am the ONLY person who has called to complain -- How may they lie like this? Every question which I ask about why and how they are making these "interactive user updates" to the website, the rep is unable to answer. The rep just passes the buck and says that s/he will mention my complaint to "management." I don't believe it for a second, since the problem obviously is NOT being fixed.

It seems to me that eBay is making these changes ONLY to drag in more advertizing revenue for itself. Not sure how eBay thinks that they will occur if driving buyers and sellers totally nuts with a dysfunctional website sends everyone away and swearing never to return to eBay for anything.

I just tried to edit out the typographical errors which I made in this reply, but guess what? eBay messaged me with another "error message" that there was "no time" for me to edit. WTH?

New software for the eBay website is a total fail! Why are you doing this?

I called to report this 2 days ago when I discovered this problem on a colleague's site.

I informed Ebay it seems like Fraud and a misrepresentation of our contract with them.

If a seller hadnt had a chance yet to relist an item after being unsold within a given day and the

prospective buyer clicks "original listing" and is redirected to another listing whether similar or not it has disasterous effects.

A. they may not notice it is not the same seller on a BIN

B. They get discouraged and cant find the original listing that they may want to pursue

C They buy from someone else and dont come back to original seller

D. They dont find what they want & get very confused using the Ebay platform

E. Searching unsold item number no longer works in the search bar only in advanced

by title

F. Advanced button is corrupted - search info no longer fills into it from initial search so you have to retype it again - despite the button below it that says include description which is corrupted too.

There were a variety of versions on unsold items - sometimes it populated, sometimes it said it had been relisted when it wasnt, mostly led to others listings some totally unrelated.

I think this is unethical - then I had the rep help me view my listings unlogged in and sure enough its pervasive. She claimed it was a bug and they are looking into it - it smells awfully fishy to me and looks more deliberate. On one of my unsolds was linked to an item that was incorrectly represented as stoneware, which was porcelain, totally unrelated, no affinity whatsoever.

Also we did not agree to pay for listings or a store to carry other peoples listing on our page for free whether paid advertising or "similar items" which seems to keep happening. Though it may grease Ebay's purse it doesnt help that individual seller who is trying to build and hang on to their business & clients. All this does is lead the buyer away from the seller not towards the seller.

I can't find one positive thing about eBay's new software! It is almost useless for searching, finding re-listed items, the "similar" item searches are not functional, and users can't delete items from their watch lists, or return to their watch lists by clicking the back arrow. I have been a longtime eBuyer and intended to start selling, but not until these issues are corrected. Especially now that ended listings refer users to other seller's listings and not to that specific re-listed item. A sales website HAS to be designed with the focus on usability and user experience! Disappointing. I really hope they can get it fixed.

If you are going to wait for ebay to clean up their act before selling, you may be waiting for all of eternity.  We have been selling on ebay for years.  We are in Alaska.  The June 2017 "UPGRADES" made it such that we have to alter our zip code in a search to be able to see our own items in a generic search.  We even have to alter our zip code to see our items in our owns store.  We have been asking for a fix for over 1 year now.  We were told yesterday that there is no update on a resolution.  They did thank me for my patience, though.  Yikes.

Thank you etrusca for putting into the precise words which I could not find. IT IS NOT EBAY'S PLACE TO DIRECT MEMBERS TO "OTHER SIMILAR ITEMS" WHEN THEY DID NOT ASK TO BE TAKEN THERE!!! I also love it when the software tells one that the item has been "relisted" and when one clicks to see the relisted item, another item comes up with the message, "Your item no longer is available, but you might like this" -- Then, when one checks "see similar items" to the one which eBay claims no longer is available, one finds that item just staring one in the face, i.e., it was relisted and still is available. eBay does merit some serious time behind bars for deceiving the public and eBay sellers in this manner!

No action taken by eBay could be more arbitrary and deceptive than its purposely leading users to items which it chooses rather than to the item listings which one is trying to access; on this point, I agree with you. I have my own reasons for keeping up with "ended" listings (for one thing, it saves time if one is trying to assess what items actually do sell for on eBay), and now eBay is making this impossible.

Each and every list which I keep no longer works; either the ended listings in them cannot be accessed OR one cannot delete or add to these lists any longer. I feel certain that this "new upgrade," "interactive software," as eBay calls it and which it is mis-installing right now, has been "designed" ONLY as a lame attempt to drag in more revenue for eBay. This plan will backfire more assuredly than are eBay software engineers prize idiots! I discovered last week that Just Snipe is doing the same thing, i.e., attempting to "upgrade" its website software. But, the "new" software is NOT working, so Just Snipe has an easily viewed announcement up which gives site users the link to the "old" website for use until the "new" software may be made to "work." Now, why is it that eBay cannot do this, too?

I am about to take every listing which i have on eBay down. I just do not have the time to get hung up in self-serving **bleep** on the eBay website. Nothing makes sense about is any longer. I would suggest that each and every member do the same thing just to make it as clear as possible to eBay that we are not going to put up with their reckless use of our patience, time, and user fees -- by screwing up a website only to benefit eBay's own financial interests.

baxterbog: Leave eBay and go to Poshmark or to Amazon. Many sellers are and finding out that they are in a better financial position. I have been only a casual seller on eBay and am not that familiar with how it "works" on Poshmark or on Amazon. But, I will be darned before I put up with this horse manure any longer. Especially when one telephones eBay, spends over an hour waiting for the call to be taken, and a rep dares to tell one that one is "only the second caller" who has complained about the "new interactive software." My, God, how could they be any more arrogant? Good riddance!

So I guess this may be why my "views" bounce from 0 to some other number? But 0 more than something else. It's been very frustrating for the last week or more to try to gauge what kind of traffic I am getting on my listings.

The other issue I've had, several times, I click on an item in a search and get something totally different.  WTH????

New software for the eBay website is a total fail! Why are you doing this?

Vinwood 01: What bothers me about my listings is that all are auction with a BIN option. ALL that appears in the eBay "list" is the title and photo of the item along with ONLY its BIN price. In my watch list, most of the items stored do not even indicate the bid or BIN price ... WTH? I told the eBay rep that what matters most to buyers is what it is, its quality, and its price. So, WHY would eBay make browsers have to open a link just to see the selling price? I think that eBay is forcing browsers to open link after link only because eBay collects money as per each "hit" on a different webpage ... Just my opinion. I think that this is why the Watch List gets fouled up so frequently. In eBay's attempts to make browers open link after link from a Watch List, eBay must make money off of it. Really, why, when one is viewing items in a list, must one go through three to four links just to "see" what is what with one item?
One thing of which I am certain: I am buying NOTHING on eBay unless or until these glitches are "fixed." If you follow other discussions under this tag, "technical problems with the website" (or something like that), you will read about sellers whose sales all have been getting messed up somehow by the malfunctioning software. Usually, when one navigates from page to page in a list, the pages begin to blend together to the point that one must scroll down an entire page before the items on that page display properly and don't, say, display the titles for one listing but the photos from listings from the last page on which one was ... I was noticed that one item which I have for sale and which "ended" had sold, or now was "out of stock" and purchased for the BIN price. About five minutes later (yes, that long), the page reset and my item was displayed as only ended, not "out of stock." Not worth the headaches or my time. And, I certainly don't want the user fees paid to eBay to be buying only misery for us, the website users.

We hear you.  We did pull down roughly 10,000 listings and downgrade from an Anchor Store to a Basic Store a couple months back.

This really sucks.  Before I had a chance to talk to my wife about what I've read about the software update, said asked "why aren't we selling anything?".  Your comments remind me about the click-link hell you have to go through when you try and look up help on eBay.  Making things easy does not seem to be a big interest.

I was just thinking about other worldwide massive online shopping sites such as those on which the public may sell items as it does on eBay. Amazon comes to mind. Amazon also has a problem with making browsing shoppers clink through link after link to find a simple detail on an item or, sometimes, even one item. HOWEVER, not even grand-scale Amazon's website ever has malfunctioned on a scale such as that which eBay's now is doing (and has done in the past). About a year ago, my entire Watch List vanished; it did "come back" about eight months later ... When I called eBay to ask about what was going on, I received NO straight answer -- only a promise that the "engineers" were "working" on fixing the problem.

What I really am admiring is that, on occasion, in my Wish LIst, the item description listed under an item kept in that list is shown in German. Yep, now I am learning German thanks to eBay. WHAT in the world is wrong with eBay software engineers? They either (a) cheated their way through computer school and know NOTHING; (b) are on drugs now; or (c) are conniving people who are running up eBay bills for their work, which they intend never to "finish" or to complete successfully (sort of like how taxpayer-funded road crews never seem to get pot holes fixed for very long -- to make sure they always have work to come back to do).

My eBay account now quickly is becoming a fossil. I can do nothing with it. I cannot add items to lists or delete most items from lists. I am seeing hardly anything which I follow in lists to sell. Maybe there already is an ongoing global ban among eBay users. Time to close up shop, I think, since, as so many other commenters have written: eBay most likely NEVER will repair its website in any way that makes it user-friendly and able to be navigated quickly.

I just wish that eBay would explain to any of us WHY they are doing this. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is one rule of thumb which eBay software engineers clearly never were taught in school!
