Title says it all; notice how in the new label printing workflows there is no option/checkbox/etc to indicate that you have an irregular shaped (Nonrectangular as the USPS likes to refer to them) package. This is a really significant problem because the newly updated dimensional weight stuff is calculated differently for Rectangular and Nonrectangular packages (see DMM 123.1.3.2 for the gritty details).
The eBay listing setup still gives you the checkbox for irregular, although some testing indicates that the eBay engine it is not calculating prices properly for these packages given the new rules (again, see DMM 123.1.3.2). It must be a development oversight for it not to be present during label generation.
Last night ebay was trying to charge me $25 to ship a 24x15x6 irregular package priority mail, but when using outside shipping services (including paypals label generator) that allow you to properly select irregular the exact same package came up at about $15. The reason for the huge difference was that paypal and others were correctly accounting for the 0.785 dimensional weight modifier for Nonrectangular packages, which applies before the calculation to determine if dimensional weight applies at all. In my case, following the true published USPS formula dimensional weight no longer applied and so it ships based solely on weight.
