Happens when escalating a return, asking Ebay to step in and help- after entering a reason and a message- AFTER the deadline date, I get the message "You are not authorized to perform this action at this time." One day, two days, three days. So it can't be time related, which is what I had thought.

Any ideas how to fix it? Tried on different OS's and platforms, so I assume it's a bug.

@dalekmeat

I notice you are registered in the UK, but you are currently signed in to the US ebay.com site. Have you tried escalating your return on the UK site?

If there are issues on the UK side of things, it might be worth posting on the UK Community boards:

I believe, but am not sure that UK users always access the US returns system. So every time I have a case or a return, it goes through the .com site, not the .co.uk site. Looks like almost every page is interchangable.

But on a better note- I have managed to escalate the return successfully, just by reducing the number of characters in the message. Not sure, but I think the limit is 500 characters, including spaces. About 6 lines.

The wierd thing though, is the moment the system accepted my return escalation, it came back and said "This return has been closed", which initially made me think that I'd accidentally hit the close the return button, and thought "no!" to myself. Only when going back into the item listing did it update that this purchase is now a case, waiting for review.

If it doesn't work for you, wait a bit longer and reduce the message size.
