Forgive me if this has already been discussed and for the lengthy feedback to eBay. When an interested buyer sends a question, eBay still has the feature on the messages page where we WERE able to check the box to add the question and reply to the listing. I was told two days ago that doesn't work anymore. I asked why they haven't removed that feature from that page but got a somewhat illogical answer. Since eBay added the ability for sellers to add additional information to the description in a field below the original description after a bid has been placed, they disabled the feature on the messages page. However, if you try to copy and paste that question and answer using the revision option, the system indicates the revision is successful but does not display the additional information. If you click the link to see all revisions, it captures the date you made the revision in this scenario, but does not show the additional information added. I was told yesterday that this problem was reported on June 13th and it could take 60 days to resolve.
I think I know part of the problem. Their computer code for the "Add to description" field should have the same code rules that they use for the original description field, (e.g. Mobile date friendly checker, META tag issues, you've exceeded the length of the description field, etc.) An eBay CS representative tried to copy-paste for me yesterday but was unsuccessful on his end.
This morning I physically typed the question and answer in the "Add to description" field when I revised the listing and it recorded the information in the update. Yes, it takes more time but at least those who have placed a bid and may potentially bid can see the question and answer now. Many times questions and our answers to those questions are critical to the decision making process for those who have placed a bid or might bid.
