I have been unable to sign-in ebay.com for three days, that is until I found the issue and solution.
Problem:
I would sign-in and get the captcha, respond to it and then the sign-in screen would come back with "Oops, does not match... ' error. I would sign-in again annd get the same cycle captcha, "Oops..."
I would then reset the password which works one time as the new password is recorded, but not any on further sign-in......
Solution:
I guessed the issue was that I had sign-in passwords for ebay.com and ebay.f r that were different. I am French and buy French items from time-to-time. I have also signed-in ebay.co.uk and ebay.de at some time. It has always worked fine for years. But this time I had to change the French password because of a typo I made.
When ebay checks passwords it seems to go both to a "local" password server and "global" password server. If the passwords are not equal it rejects the sign-in of both the ebay.fr and ebay.com. It becomes impossible to sign-in any ebay service more than once as one resets the "local" password in which case ebay is satisfied it has the verified user and does not check passwords.
The only way out I found is to use reset password to make the sign-ins equal, which by magic solves the problem for both ebay.coom and ebay.fr.
