I am not receiving any notices, including sales and purchases

It's been 2 weeks and no notices for watched items, now I have made 3 purchases in the last 5 days and not a single notice on any of the items from EBay.  Talked to them and I was told to post that on the sellers feedback....what? what good will that do ?

Thanks but I already checked that and they are on the right settings and have been since 1998. Still not receiving anything and I made another purchase yesterday.

Are you saying that eBay CS told you to express your dismay at not receiving eBay notification emails in feedback left for the seller? Did they say to leave a neutral or a negative? Please elaborate.

Watchlist emails not arriving may be an actual change or eBay glitch. I don't use watchlists so just don't care, but I think I caught numerous threads around here out of the corner of my eye alluding to that.

Are you sure your email is functioning correctly and/or that the messages are not caught in a spam trap? Do you receive other eBay emails and emails from other people same as always?

I'm sending you a Private Message (PM) here in the forums. If you haven't fussed with your eBay community forum settings, I think by default that should trigger a notification email about the PM. Results of that will not be conclusive, but are a data point.

I am sure the settings are correct. I have checked everyday to make sure that the messages did not go into spam (they have not) I also went and created a filter value for EBay yesterday to try and make sure that they don't end up in spam. I have made purchases in the last 4 days including yesterday and a sale last night. And I have not receive a single notice for any of them.

And yes, the customer service wanted me to put this on feedback from a recient purchase to a seller!  That is just plain ridiculous, and of cours I didn't do that.

Did you get an email notification about the private forum message I sent you?

 

I also just did an "ask seller a question" on one of your listings. That should also trigger an email.

Possibly the rep meant the ebay "Tell us what you think" or "Technical Issues" feedback link that appears on some pages such as Purchase History? Not really sure which page would be most appropriate for email related issues.

 

I can't seem to find it now, but I'm sure that at least one of those links had a tag that said "give us feedback" when I hovered a cursor over it.

Ok.

I got your eBay messages reply to my eBay messaging "message to seller" I sent you. I got an email carbon copy of that reply.

So, did you get an email notification of that eBay "ask seller a question" I sent, and that's why you responded, or did you not get an email carbon copy and just noticed that you had an eBay message? (turning off email notifications for those eBay messages in your site communication settings isn't an option)

Did you get an email notification for the community forum PM I sent you hours ago? (it's possible you have PMs turned off and/or have email notifications for PMs turned off in your community settings, and I don't remember what the default untouched settings are for those) Also not sure that community forum emails have any relation to eBay main site emails, and thinking they do not.


You never answered if you are getting non-eBay emails, or if you are getting any eBay emails at all.

If getting other non-eBay emails, then your email isn't totally broken.
If getting other non-eBay emails, but only some eBay emails, then there may be a problem specific to your eBay account.

If getting other non-eBay emails, and no eBay emails at all (no sale notifications, no purchase confirmations, no member message notifications) then you might want to check your site communication settings and see that the email addresses there for the various types of emails are correct and were not changed by gremlins

under "Delivery Options", check the "Registered email address" and "Receive messages from other members" email addresses (I think sale and purchase email notifications go to the first and email notifications for eBay messages like I sent you to the second)

I have gotten your pms but nothing from EBay at all, I will check the settings again and redo my email address that I have always used and see it that helps. Thank you again for your help.

ok, this is odd. I tried to re put my email address that I always use, but on the page where it asked my to put in the code number, ( I did) when I hit enter it just went back to the same page and asked to enter the code again, and again and again.  This would not work at all.  I also just made another purchase and I did not receive a notice from EBay, I only got it from PayPal.

By code number, do you mean a CAPTCHA like the one that pops up on "ask a seller a question" pages sometimes? 6 numbers typed in? (I'd guess eBay has decided to throw some security checks at you because you are changing/messing with the email address, and wants to make sure you aren't a bot hijacking an account)

Those checks often fail repeatedly on the messaging pages. It seems like they time out, sometimes immediately. I found refreshing the CAPTCHA and getting a new number right before typing the number in seems to help. And sometimes, just trying 2 or 3 times does the trick.

If you can get the CAPTCHA thing to work, changing the email address to another, and then changing it back to the one you want might kickstart things.

**bleep**  it won't let me change my address either.  This stinks, if it wasn't for PayPal I wouldn't have a record of my sales or purchases. I guess I will try calling again, maybe I will get lucky and get someone who can help from their end.

If the CAPTCHA issue has you stuck, it might be worth trying the same thing in a different browser -- once in a while something that doesn't work in one browser (or one browser version) works in another.
