Has the search function changed? I can't seem to use boolean operators anymore. Specifically "-"

Hello All,

I used to be able to search ebay using boolean functions primarily using "-" .

Such as I wanted a red shirt without green in the title I could search "red shirt -green" and it'd work perfectly. Now its not really working, does anyone know if there have been any changes? if so is there a workaround or have I missed something?

Using a minus sign to exclude a term from search appears to still be working for me when I just tested it with a few short searches.

What search are you doing? A link to your search might be instructive. If you are using lots of exclusions or excluded sellers, in some cases the number of terms in the search can cause the search URL to break and stop working.

If that does not seem to be the case, try searching using the Advanced Search page -- you can exclude terms there using a separate field rather than using a minus sign.

Thanks, I looked at my search and it's fine. I must of legit just searched and had one which didnt show.

There is another site (uses ebay data) which everytime I do the "-" it just adds it to the search query but I'll email them to ask what the issue is.
