Had difficulty accepting offer sent by seller

 Got an offer sent to me from a Seller. When I clicked on to review offer, Alert came up, was unable to buy item. Went to bids & offers, clicked on offer and the original listing was shown.

     Went to notifications click again on offer, original listing still came up.

 This is the original listing ^^^^.

I message Seller and told her also that perhaps it's a glitch.

     My account is all up to date, I frequently buy on offers sent and my Ebay app is current on my android cell.

     Never has this happened before, any clues?

Had difficulty accepting offer sent by seller

This is another post with offer issues:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Report-eBay-Technical-Issues/Receiving-Offers-But-Unable-To-Respond/m-...

With multiple reports, it sounds like an eBay issue rather than a browser or app issue.

A couple of months ago, I was not able to accept an offer. I'd click "accept offer" and absolutely nothing happened on two different browsers. I had to change the price on the listing and have the buyer Buy It Now.

After that, I took OBO off of all my listings. Too much trouble and it irked the buyer. We had to be online at the same time and in communication for it to work, or else someone else might have bought it for the lower price instead of the person who made the acceptable and accepted offer in the first place.

Here is something unusual about that listing.

That is a very unique item, it doesn't seem the seller could have more than one of them. There's nothing in the description that suggests the seller has more than one available.

But, there is an accepted offer in the purchase history, which says that it was sold yesterday, Aug 9.

The listing does say that there is one still available ... but this seems strange ... I can't find any cached page for that listing, so I can't confirm if there were more than one available the offer was accepted yesterday (presumably by someone other than OP).

@silverstatetreasureboxes, can you remember if there was more than one of these available when you viewed the listing before?

What's also interesting about that @lacemaker3 is the listing doesn't show the typical 1 sold / 1 available. There's no sales history on the listing, you can only see that offer by going to the direct link you posted above.

So we have conflicting info showing an offer was accepted, but according to Terapeak not paid yet, and according to the listing front end nothing was sold from that listing.

@wastingtime101, yes ...

I'm wondering if someone else also received the offer, and accepted it, but perhaps they have not paid yet.

This is odd behavior, and a major change from what used to happen in this situation. Perhaps eBay has made a change to keep listings active/live in this situation until they are paid for? Similar to IPR for fixed-price listings? If that's what they intended, it really isn't working in a very intuitive manner. Not at all as one would expect.

@silverstatetreasureboxes, if you really want that item, you could try putting it into your cart and see if you can pay the full price for it. It would be interesting to see what happens in that case ... maybe if you can get your payment to go through before the payment for the offer goes through, it might be yours.

@wastingtime101

That probably would explain things if an unpaid offer came thru, but there was only 1 available lace.

     I actually bought another one I like better so I'm going to now forget this problem child.

    I swear, all you who replied are top notch in your ebay tech difficulties,  just amazing.  This forum is so lucky to have all of you and I mean that!

    Thanks again, Silver

@lacemaker3

You show an accepted offer on this item around 6:39pm? That was me, it had to be me. Here's the message I sent seller

 I'm going to have to message her again to see if it shows up in sold. This is getting crazy. All this took place August 9th pm

The ID that accepted the offer has a U and an X in it so that could be you @silverstatetreasureboxes

Ask the seller what they see when they go to this page:

You mean you tried to accept the offer yesterday, around 6:39 pm Aug 9, 2022?

Did you enter payment information when you sent the offer? If so, please double-check and see if you were charged for it or not ...

I am wondering if possibly, your automatic payment method didn't go through for some reason, so the listing is kind of in limbo ... another glitch with the automatic-payment for offers and auction bids ...

Kind of like, you accepted the offer, so it's supposed to be yours and the listing is supposed to be ended, but the payment didn't go through and it was supposed to be IPR so it hasn't been ended ...

<sarcasm> AAAACCCKKK, the listing is so confused it doesn't know what to do! </sarcasm>

Please, put the listing into your cart, and then go to Checkout and try to pay for it ... see if you can pay for it, and how much you are charged ... it's possible that the $3 discount has expired, if it was 10 hours left when you accepted it last evening ...

If it were me, I would be willing to pay $3 more just to find out if I could do it (but I'm not going to mess with that listing because, that tablecloth should be yours).

@lacemaker3

I just messaged her and asked her to check, will let you know.

Yes Lace, I attempted to accept this offer and Alert and opps came across, nothing is showing up on my end, I didn't finish payment method either as it wouldn't let me continue.

Definitely a tech issue that occurred when you were trying to accept the offer. The system both recognized it and failed to recognize it at the same time. The process initiated but failed to complete.

That explains why you couldn't accept the offer a second time.

But it doesn't help you figure out whether this will just "go away" or if you're expected to complete the sale. Definitely a strange one.

Let us know what the seller says.

So you mean that you tried to accept the offer, and it wanted you to enter a payment method, but it didn't go through?

That's very strange. Personally, I have no problem with entering a payment method and paying immediately when I accept an offer from a seller ....

If eBay can't even get that right, to process a buyer's payment when they accept an offer from a seller, that's pretty sad. It's always worked for me in the past. I haven't sent an offer for quite a while, because I won't give eBay an automatic payment method (never have, since I started selling almost 20 years ago), but I have always paid immediately when I accept an offer from a seller.

It sounded to me like Silver tried to accept the order and got an error message. So she never got to the stage of entering payment info.

Well Seller responded immediately and sent me a private offer better than the 1st so I clicked on her fresh offer and it went thru!!!!

She couldn't see that original offer on her end.  I glad it worked out, thanks to all of you ( and poster vintagecraze)

     Something is going on though, we shouldn't have to go thru all this trouble and agro. Ebay needs to check this out.

    Thanks again...

I always pay right away too, Pronto right away. As I remember when I first clicked on review offer on main page, I clicked on accept and that's when this Alert in the triangle 🔺️ and than opps, something. I never got to the payment portion but I did check my account just in case.

    I started to put it in my cart when seller had messaged me and sent new offer!

It looks like everything is good now ... you put the poor confused listing out of it's misery ...
